AMG_55 MOZ80s, TREZAEI, Yo bro's where are you? or if done w/repairs Jangy ready?
Hehe, never fear. Weight is the last excuse I will use in my ride. When you weigh over 4000lbs, a few hundred here and ther means nothing!!
It seems that there is a good bit to gain on all high compression non-aspirated motors with tuning. I would never get an American car and not trick it out. I would mod my *** off, like the one that was at the rosebowl meet:

Here's my latest!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

J/KSeriously..Carbon Fiber door handle cut outs from Sanko..pretty cool!

I painted the Wheels & calipers gloss black & red, installed Sako CF door cuttouts, painted all side markers gloss blk, A pillar CF trim & gloss blk w/clear, rear diffuser Titanium drk silver no Clear flat color, Z06 Cf spoiler, rear badge covered in Sako Cf.
Slammed it myself, 255/40/18 345/30/19 non run craps rides like a demon should!

Welcome back!! Soon as I meet you....bam, you are gone. Hope all is well. Let me know if you 2 go and what the results are!!
cell# holla at a...

That's why you see those **** rippin' track times being pulled off on that Jeremy Clarkson show (Top Gear) the base C6 was beating a plethora of supercars, funny didn't see the E55k beating the C6 on any of there auto X tests? and they hate American makes.
lay-off the the Vette Suspension, geez 1st it's the interior, now the suspension, the C6 kicks E55k AMG all over the professionally driven road courses, lets leave that to the pros, I'm down for a fun -non-life threatening twistie roll, but mostly interested in my 1st posts Question/request run a near stock E55k for speed straight, stop light, or freeway.
The SLA double-wishbone suspension geometry, & suspennsion travel was increased significantly, thanks to redesigned Sachs shock absorbers & steering knuckles machined for greater range of motion.
The C6 uses in the REAR ONLY a TRANSVERSE Leaf spring very helpfull at reducing UNSPRUNG WEIGHT!
Corvette Transverse leaf springs have been an integral part of the suspension of GM's Chevrolet Corvette. This article concerns the practical differences between leafs and coils, popular misconceptions, and the design considerations that led to their inclusion in the Corvette.
[edit] Traditional use of leaf springs
A traditional leaf spring arrangement.A leaf spring is a long, flat, thin, and flexible piece of spring steel or composite material that resists bending. The basic principles of leaf spring design and assembly are relatively simple, and leaves have been used in various capacities since medieval times. Most heavy duty vehicles today use two sets of leaf springs per solid axle, mounted perpendicularly to support the weight of the vehicle. This system requires that each leaf set act as both a spring and a horizontally stable link. Because leaf sets lack rigidity, such a dual-role is only suited for applications where load-bearing capability is more important than precision.
[edit] Leaf springs on the Corvette
The C6 Corvette's rear suspension. The Corvette suspension has unequal length double wishbones, or A-arms, for all four wheels, and half-shafts in place of a solid rear axle. This allows independent articulation of each wheel. This motion is independent and defined only by the geometry of the suspension arms. The type of spring (leaf or coil) does not define suspension motion on a late model Corvette.
Traditionally, a coil spring is mounted between the chassis and each lower A-arm. The coil compresses in proportion to the spring rate when the A-arm rises, and it is this resistance against compression that suspends the car.
GM has equipped the Corvette with two one-piece fiberglass composite leaf springs in place of coils. They run transversely across the width of the car, mounted in two places equidistant from the centerline. Each end is bolted to the bottom of an A-arm such that when the A-arm rises, the leaf pulls it down, again in proportion to a known spring rate. In this way, four coils are replaced with two leaf springs.
Because both coils and leafs in these configurations act only as simple springs and are not required to stabilize the wheels, their function is almost identical.
[edit] Advantages of transverse leaf springs
Less unsprung weight. Coil springs contribute to unsprung weight; the less there is, the more quickly the wheel can respond at a given spring rate.
Less weight. The C4 Corvette's composite front leaf weighed 1/3 as much as the pair of conventional coil springs it would replace.
Weight is positioned lower. Coil springs and the associated chassis hard mounts raise the center of gravity of the car.
Superior wear characteristics. The Corvette's composite leaf springs last longer than coils, though in a car as light as the Corvette, the difference is not especially significant. No composite Corvette leaf has ever been replaced due to fatigue failure.
As used on the Corvette, ride height can be adjusted by changing the length of the end links connecting the leaf to the suspension arms. This allows small changes in ride height with minimal effects on the spring rate.
Also as used on the Corvette, the leaf spring acts as an anti-roll bar, allowing for smaller and lighter bars than if the car were equipped with coil springs
[edit] The leaf spring as an anti-roll bar
The extent to which a leaf spring acts as an anti-roll bar is determined by the way it is mounted.
A single, loose center mount would cause the spring to pivot about the center axis, and push one wheel down as the other was compressed upward. This is exactly opposite an anti-roll bar, and has not been used on any generation of the Corvette.
Corvette has had widely-spaced double mounts on the front. The rear spring has had double mounts since the C5. The spring is allowed to pivot about these two points. When the suspension compresses and the end of the leaf is pulled up, the center of the leaf spring between the two mounts moves down. This in turn reduces the spring force on the wheel on the opposite side of the car. In this way, the leaf acts like an anti-roll bar.
Coil spring conversion
Anecdotal evidence suggests that most Corvette owners are satisfied with the car’s suspension performance. Of those who are not, a small percentage have converted to coilover kits by Penske or otherwise. The chassis has all the necessary hardpoints already; the conversion is just a matter of removing the leaf spring and installing the coilover set in place of the existing shocks.
Now can we get onto the straight racing or are you going to try & put down the C6 some more?
I'd love
to see your priceless expression if I pass you
as you video this momentous occasion

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Vette forum makes this place look like an awesome dreamland! those Vette forums are full of crotchity grumpy old geezers, filling most of there days w/putting up "Keep off The Grass" signs & yelling at people to slow down while constantly searching/loosing their "AARP" cards
They'll deff rercognize me w/nicely coiffeured chest hair sporting my mr "T" assortment of gold chains, & Viagra banner on top of front winshield
I'm not bashing your vette anymore than you are bashing the E. To each his own. Sorry to drop your high, but it isn't gonna bug me in any way if you pull me on a straight. Spank me on Palomar and it will hurt my feelings and raise my impression of the GM technology.
Frame or unibody?

I love all cars, & deff could fill the forum w/complaints about GM, just had to educate/Errr set the record straight I aint ridin on your grampas straight axle model "A" Steel Leaf Springs, their a deff hybrid, I will be switching to Phatd Coilovers
even though the stock set-up handles more than satisfactorily, the precise lowering control and ride firmness/softness control w/coilovers is rumored to be superior!Edit: Elanore is busy slight problem w/headlight & other commitments, but were trying to set something up on sunday afterenoon/morning, but if you wanna roll sooner I'm down! I have a prior engagement tonight, but sat-sun- it's all good!
