I thought about this as well but I would wait till the v10 gets dropped in it. It is a great car and apparently an everyday driver as well. My father in law drove one and told me it is phenomenal. I would do it but the back seat of the 911 while still small is still there, and works for my 2 year old.

Rumor is they will ship something in the range of 225 cars to the US and it would be a reasonable bet to expect the allocation to be assigned to customers already.

This is pure conjecture on my part, go to an Audi dealer and find out if they're getting one that you might buy.
You will not be able to get an R8 for at least a couple years.

The initial allocation to the US for 2008 is about 200 cars to only 20 dealers or so, and they are all spoken for. A friend of mine put a deposit down over a year ago, and he is still almost two years away from getting one.

If you're really interested, check out the R8 forum on Audiworld.com.

Very true, the allocation isn't there quite yet, Audi doesn't sell very many of its 100k+ cars, most people opt for Mercs or Bimmers in that stratosphere.

I wouldn't buy an Audi "Exotic" with the same engine as an RS4. Noooo thank ye. Wait for the TTV10 and you'll pee on everyone.

i would hate to pick the R8 up and not be satisfied with its performance. After having a car with over 500hp its gonna be hard to find a car that has the same grunt, unless i go Z06 or Viper, but those are chevy's and Dodge's that really arent to impressive with there interiors. I drove my freinds fathers S6 with the lambo V10 in it, all i gotta say to that is that it sounds cool but a Jeep Srt8 is gonna be right next to you, lol So i hope the R8 has got some ***** to it. Then we got something to work with. But as far as being different and having a real sick looking car with just wheels on it, the R8 got alot of cars beat.

IMO, the R8 seems like a sick car though!
The R8 leave much to be desired if you want performance - wait till the v10 version comes out later this year if you want speed.

comparing an e55 and an r8 is like watermelon to grapefruit...haha

If you have more than one car and this is for fun, go for an R8 but that's a pure 2-seater. You really can't compare the two cars. The e55 is fast but can seat 4 which is a big plus in my book.

hey any more pics of your yellow Viper????

According to magazine tests, the R8 is no slouch. While it's not as fast as the 997TT, Z06, etc. It appears to be a very well balanced car. The real challenge is actually buying an R8. If you can get the R8 at sticker, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, the allocations are so few and the demand so high. Don't expect to walk into an Audi dealer and buy it off the lot for MSRP.

Here's the first one being delivered to a dealership in Hong Kong. I think it's a good looking car.

I think it looks sweet but haven't driven on as of yet. I can't make a final decision until I see some real times and drive one for myself.

A little over-priced with performance too similar to the RS4.

No thanks...I would keep your e55.

Do you owe money on your e55? Do you have the difference sitting in cash?

Exclamation

I own my car outright, but that new R8 is way different than most looking cars on the road today, in New York where i live there has got to be at least 7 gallardo's 4 murcielago's and i cant even tell you how many ferrari's, f430's ranging all the way down to testarossa's. Bmw's (///M's) and Mercedes (AMG's) are all over the ****ing place, lol. I want to be different, sometimes i thing about pickin up a Z06 and crushin everyone, but i hate chevys. i think the solution is maybe pickin up a R8 doing something to it to make it have a kick in the *** that it should have then flipping it for an extra 20 grand.

No offense to anyone that has a gallardo but in my opinion i think the gallardo isnt anything to brag about, ive driven them they drive like **** and the rear of the car looks like ****. A murcielago is of course alot nicer but im not in the market for that as of now.lol

Dude.. you want "viper size wheels" on it, this is probably not the car for you. It would make a great daily driver for someone who wanted great performance and comfort, but not as mundane as a porsche. however this car simply wont have the torque thru its AWD to move those heavy *** wheels. That would be a complete waste. There is no reason for wider wheels, beside to bling it out. Its AWD for ____ 's sake. I personally really like the car, but wish it would be lighter. You may consider waiting for the V10 variant, and as mentioned you probably wont get an 08 anyway as they are spoken for. Based on what I guess you are looking for, I'd asy keep your E55. Probably be dissapointed with the power. But if you want a great handling and great looking car.. go for it.
