Selling my Phenolic Spacers

Well, couldn't get the VRP air box to fit with my spacers, so I'm selling them.

2006 SL65 ///AMG - GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN: 2005 E55; 2002 ML55; 2001 CLK55; 1992 BMW 850i; 1991 M5
Fitment Question

When you say "VRP" Box, do you mean VRUS' airboxes?? I am contemplating one of these, but I do have the full EVO cooling kit with the Phenolic spacers. This sounds like something I should know before pulling the trigger on the box!! BTW, I think the spacers are dynamite!! Even after "enthusiastic" driving, I can rest my hand on the SC and the intakes and they could be described as "warm" at the very most. Before the cooling kit, even after "normal" in town start-and-stop driving, the SC and intakes were scorching hot. A mist of water out of a spray bottle would sizzle away in no time! Also, I really think the cooler temps make a DRAMATIC improvement in power on these Kompressed cars.

Do the spacers work with the RennTech box? Anyone tried it yet?

Yep, the Vrus Air Box. I think you'll be happy with the box. No you can't use the EvoSport Spacers but I'm OK with that.

The Renntech box is completely rigid like the Vrus box. The problems is when you put the spacers in, they raise the Surge Tanks about 3/16 inches. This in turn raises the air box 3/16 inches since the air box connects and rests on the Surge Tanks. If the box is rigid then it will be 3/16 inches too high to connect with the TB. This will be the case with Renntech or Vrus.

If you use the stock air box the flex in the Y tube accomidates the raise in th 3/16 inches.

Hey, you're welcome. He's usually not this busy, sorry about that. He'll really know what busy is when he comes to work for me in about 15 months.

I have a friend at work who just put a phenolic spacer on his SRT8 300 and he raves about the cooling effects. Does anyone know if there is a spacer available for the 63 engines?

Eww...that a bummer. No way to have a spacer to raise the TB 3/16 inches huh?

The TB is on an angle. So if you put a spacer between it and the SC you push it out and up. No Good.

Does anyone know the part number for the existing gaskets between the AMG aluminum air tanks and the manifold?

My local MB parts guy could not provide it!

Two different gaskets:
Drivers side: 113 098 01 80
Passenger side: 113 098 00 80

Try www.oempartsdirect.com to get them if your Dealer is having trouble.

Yes, the spacers do work with the Renntech box. I have both the spacers and the Renntech box on my car. Having said that, I am not really sure what benefit the spacers provide for my car... i.e, hp/tq.

Does the Renntech box have any flexibility designed into it? How does it accommodate the height change?

The Renntech box doesnt sit on the AMG air tanks. It wraps around it. Not sure why adjusting the height of the airtanks has any impact on the airbox?

In a stock set up the lower portion of the air box hooks into the Surge tanks. Because of this, the height of the surge tank defines the height of the entire air box. Vrus's air box uses the stock lower portion. so it in turn is dependent on the height of the Surge tanks.

They use the same MB part number. The difference in cost is only like a dollar or two. With shipping you don't same money; you get convenience of not going to the Dealer.
