11's at Englishtown

I met NYC_SRT down at e-town today for some runs. Track was nice. Not too crowded. I managed 5 runs in less than 3 hours.

Using the same launch technique that I used at Atco to run my 11.90X's, I ran an 11.993 @ 117.99 mph (1.859 60'); an 11.989 @ 117.74 mph (1.833 60'); and an 11.915 @ 117.38 mph (1.751 60'). My other runs were a 12.131 @ 117.63 (1.953 60') and a 12.064 @ 117.79 mph (1.893 60'). NYC_SRT caught one of my runs on video.

With the exception of my 11.915 run, where I deadhooked it, I tripped the ESP light on all of my launches. I felt the car pull back a bit, but it was nothing like the bogging I would get from trying to preload. The car has an incredible traction control system.

I was really impressed with my car's trap speeds. With a bit of tail wind, I could have hit 118 mph. I am happy that I managed 11's at 2 different tracks. Now I know my earlier runs were not a fluke.

There were a bunch of Dodge/Chrysler/Jeeps running today. Some really impressive cars. NYC_SRT ran a 12.75 @ 111 in his 300. Some guy in a worked Jeep Cherokee SRT ran a 12.2 @ 111.

Awesome times !!!

It must be nice to have 2 of the fastest tracks within striking distance from you.

Have you driven any earlier E55's to compare traction control intervention?

E-towns elevation is a whopping 55ft! No wonder you had such good runs...LOL

Looks like a well prepped track too with those 60ft's.Have you ever dynoed your car?

Thanks. As they say - "Location, Location, Location." I am lucky.

Mine is the only E55 I have ever driven.

I have never dyno'd the car. I am curious to see what she puts down but barely have time to take the car out of the garage - let alone get to a dyno during the work week.

I don't think the track prep was as good as it was at Atco when I ran last year. It obviously can't be bad. But I really think that the good 60' times come from rolling into the throttle after a good burnout. Being patient with the go pedal works for this car. I really would like others to try launching like that and tell me if they improve their runs.

Thanks, Ricker and 305. There was one C6 there today. I didn't see what it ran. There was also a guy in a Z16 427 TT by Lingenfelter, running on Michelin street rubber! I didn't see his runs. He said he was just playing around to see what his MPH was. I wonder if NYC_SRT saw his runs. Must have been scary.

Definately had to do with good driving skills. My biggest problem with my car is the engagement of the sc clutch. Its very hard to get into the peddle smoothly with out the clutch engaging and messing the launch up.That and being on stock contis, these tires suck form every aspect!

i've been trying to promote the off idle type of launch for a while now, even with the srt8 guys. i believe our ecu's don't like it when we have the throttle and brake depressed at the same time while trying to load the converter. i've gotten all my best launches by quickly mashing the pedal from idle. i've come close and on the right track, i KNOW i could nail a high 1.6x 60ft time with street tires.

awesome times especially with a DA of 778 per the slip. What was your launch technique on the 1.72 60-foot?

As JRocket pointed out - those runs were at Atco last year. But the technique is the same. Burnout in the waterbox, ESP ON, Suspension on Comfort and Transmission in S. When you are ready to go, release the brake and roll quickly into the throttle once you are fully off the brake. Something slightly less than stomping on the gas.

I couldn't find anyone with one of those DA readers. BTW - those things remind me of the Coleco handheld football game I used to play when I was 10.

Amazing runs on PS2's. Do you find you have major traction problems on the street? I have PS'2 and cannot get the car to launch without spinning the tires and ESP pulling power. Best launches on street seem to be to roll on gas slowly then floor the car once rear end settles in.
