Residual Heat/Ventillation Function
Is this an option? Is this something we get or don't get in the USA?
The manual has 2 climate control options... A & B. B does not have the residual or "REST" function.
I'm surprised my car doesn't have this as it has about every option, so I thought maybe it was a non-USA thing.
Anyone have this? Is it worth anything really?

I don't think that'll you'll need it in H-town. Its more intended when temps drop below 40F. ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
But then again 60F may do that to you.![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)

Actually the cooling doesn't really work. By the time the cool, NOT cold, air makes it into the cabin its worthless. Experience from a previous car that had that feature.

I have the rest function. I'm not sure how it works in the summer because I got the car last fall, but the heat option in the winter was nice while pumping gas.
I think you can just turn the key to the point just before it starts (where the seats are powered, etc) and this should accomplish the same thing by allowing you to turn on the AC/Heat although I am too lazy to go out to the garage right now and check. I wouldn't worry about not having it.
I do like the butterfly-door armrest that jangy spoke of though. Wonder why they changed that???

I use the REST button every night to purge the Aircon so that it does not smell musty and humid in the morning. I am sure that it is not its intended function...

Interesting, how do you use it? Do you turn it on when you get out of the car? Will it shut off automatically?

The REST feature is GREAT! I have it in my 03. It's most useful in the summer when the car has to sit for a long time outdoors. It keeps the interior at a comfortable temperature so when you get back to your car, it doesn't feel like you are stepping into a sauna.

Oh, yes it does shut off automatically. Sould you be tempted to do it more than twice in a row (no need!) with ignition switched off, have your road service number ready, because you will have a flat battery in the morning! Trust me, I should know..
