Noticed that nobody replied.

I would just go with the standard BF Goodrich TA Drag Radials.

275/35/18 will slip right on stock rims.

You will FREAK at the difference. It really is incredible.

MAKE SURE you get Drag Radials and not Drag Radial 2's.

Luke at Tirerack usually keeps them in stock for us

Pic of what you need below.

Drag Radial 2 below

make sure to double check the availability of certain sizes as i think these are being either discontinued or different sizes are coming out.

What are you going to run on the 20s?

I would run the contis on the front, unless you want to get even thinner ones. Just blow them up full of air, so it will minimize traction.

Got it. That won't be too fair, since the 18s are smaller AND have gripier tires, but oh well. It will add fuel to the fire that taller rims are slower.

**** it, drag with the 20s and ball in style style. I can bet u that ur e55 w/ 20s will look sicker than all ALLcars...

I just picked up a set of 20" HRE 840 3 Piece wheels and the car feels way faster and responsive. No seriously i bull **** you not. 20s vs 18s and the 20s are still lighter....

I was previously on a set of oem 18s with ps2s and a 275 rear, the ps2s were hands down the best tire i had ever sat on. They were really just beyond what i thought was possible. Ice cold tire, wot and you had minimal traction problems on a warm day. I love em.

My new tires are 20" Pzero Nero now and they are alot softer, however the grip is not there vs the ps2s....

The renntechs aren't wide enough. I had hoped that RT would be willing to knock out a custom set that would hold 275s in the from and 295s in the rear, but they weren't down at the time. You may have better luck. I think any rim company that does it could sell a load of them to the hardcore type as well as the non-AMG Es.
I wouldn't use straightline to decide on wheels. If you like the looks of the 20s, then just decide if you like the drive and handling. Who gives a rat's nut if it is really .3 quiker or slower in a straight, if you love it? Oh wait, I would...but .3 is quite a bit and I dunno what 20s do to that. What is your overall rolling diameter? That will tell you how far off the gearing is, then the only thing left is the centrifugal force differences in different rim diameters.
