Played with a 997tt this am

So, I'm coming out of my neighborhood this morning taking it easy in the 55. About a 1/2 mile into my drive I see a new 997tt on my tail. I did a quick burst from 60-80 then slowed down. Well he kept going and flew by me. The car sounded soooo good. (made me miss my Pcar) We catch a red light (I'm behind him we exchange pleasantries- big grin and a thumbs up), thinking to myself I'll give him a little run off the line. Wrong! He revved the thing to about 3k and dropped the clutch. It was like he was catapulted off of the Nimitz. By the time my car hooked-up he was 2 car lengths ahead. The whole time I had a a big smile listening to this Pcar go. It left me wanting....

(Maybe when the the kids are out of car seats )

They say it's fixed. They also said that the last 5 times.

Back to the story, the 997tt was silver. I've seen the red one too.

actually i saw these 2 cars raced.
friend's 997TT has straight pipes and exhaust, with ecu mod(but i dont think it turned up boost much).
another friend's c6 z06 is got exhaust and another mod(don't remember if it was intake mod or header).
z06 is faster but was it wasn't killing the p-car or anything.

While waiting for my TT (just informed completition date pushed back another week ) I've had the opportunity to drive a few of them. I would not be shocked if an E55 beat one in a race or if the TT won.

It's been slightly over a year since I've had my K2 E55 but had the opportunity to drive a modded (exhaust and chip) TT the other day. I don't remember the E55 being like this - it was frighteningly quick.

P-Cars, when modded can be very quick. I have seen a 996 TT run mid to high 10s...

We shut down around 80. He was 3 cars ahead. Keep in mind, I had to wait for him to go off the line (since I was behind him), the last thing I need is a 997tt in my grill if he screwed up the launch. I think if we where side by side at the light it would have been a tad closer.

It was funny watching this thing launch, no spinning just go.

Stock 997TT put down high380s at all 4-wheels on a Mustang Dyno. With software and exhaust, stock VNT turbos can put down around low-mid500s, after that they are done.

So figure high11s for a stock car, high 10s for a tuned one.

coming from a E55 with over 600hp with juice, i gotta say my new 997 can def hang with it no prob, so a stock E55 would get buried!

997TTs are ridiculous off the line. In tiptronic form from a stop, you hit the overboost button and let the boost build up. Once the turbos are spooled I doubt there are too many cars that can beat it off the line. And yes, the 0-60 is really in 3.5 seconds and its quite easily achievable. The first time I launched the car I think I was able to pull that off.

You may have a chance on the highway.

Still, the AMGs are beasts off the line as well.

I have heard numerous reports of Z06's pulling on cars like the SL65, 997TT, M6, and F430.

Along with the proven insane 1/4 mile times of low 11's and even high 10's, I think its believable that a Z06 could outhustle a 997TT.
