E55 transmission reflash??

E55 transmission reflash??
I was talking to a HPS supercharged CLS500 owner the other day. He mentioned that HPS did a transmission reflash on his CLS that made it shifts faster and firmer.
I know people have mix feelings about HPS. I am not asking feedbacks about the company HPS. But has anyone heard about ANY transmission reflash for our E55s?
Did a search but only found dealer reflashes for the E63s (1st gear start).

I had mine flashed for the 2.82's. Like it A LOT, but wonder if there is any performance gain besides the rock hard shifts. It definitely starts to lose the luxury car feel with it. Much harder shifts up and down now. Mostly notice it cruising around....at WOT, don't notice a difference.

Yeah, but that includes hardware upgrade also right? I'm looking for something thats just the reflash.
The guy told me the reflash upgrade made his CLS shifted noticeable faster.
Our cars shifts SLOW...as well as the kick-down response... I hate it (not the car, just the way it downshifts).

............what does the reprogramming do for your car. I understand the car will shift smoother and faster. What does that mean? Specifuically, I am interested in something that will raise the torque limit on the trannny so that ones car does not go into limp mode after a hard launch. Does this reprogramming achieve this?

On a similar note, I have always hated the TQ converters on these cars. I remember someone a few months back talking about replacing that with a 3 disc setup. I would assume that such a setup would actually add stress to teh drivetrain, but I'd like the added responsiveness.

Woah!! I've never had my **** go into limp mode from a launch. You may want to look into the RennTech tranny upgrade. it does fortify the tranny AND tunes the TCU.

They are pretty technical, so be clear with what you are looking for. Also let them know I sent ya. They may not love me, but at least they know my kind cares about the actual numbers.

from what i have heard about the trans software upgrade, you must also re-program the engines' ecu also otherwise you will not gain the full effect....

My ECU is re-programmed already or you say engine and trans ECU need to be re-programmed accordingly ???
Need more details...runned with SL 682 HP which had TCU re-programmed...beat him till 145 and then he started pulling on ME with his big 21 Lorinser wheels...then I have been told TCU is making big diff after 120 !!!

a close friend of mine who is having this work done an works closely with a top tuner claims it is the only way to get the full benefit of the of the EGS upgrade; we will know for sure when the upgrade is done..

............I spoke with bob at Renntech and got some mixed info. Mind you, I had already spoken to someone else at Renntech 2 months ago who said that TCU flash in the AMG V8 cars was possible at a cost of $1500. I spoke to Bob yesterday who said that the TCU flash for V8 cars was only for the non AMG cars to bring them to AMG specs. As far as the transmission reinforcement, he did say it was available, but he kinda down played its usefulness. Anyone with different info?

Ted, we will know about the effectiveness shortly. Bleek is having a brand new tranny redone in europe with modified clutch paks, reprogramming, and some other goodies as we speek.
Apparently the difference will be significant when the torque limiters are removed and the tranny is strengthened..
