It was actually a 1.699 so closer to a 1.7. This was back in the good ole days of Los Angeles County raceway. I ran there 3x per week about 30 times per day "testing"

I went from a BFG drag radial to this road course tire called a Pilot Sport Cup. It has little flex, and it hard r copmpound, it needed some real heat. This tire prevented the "bog" i had been getting from the super soft drag radial.

I left off idle, very relaxed, one of those perfect patches of rubber I musta hit cause I was neck in neck with a modded Z28 that had earlier beaten me badly.when I got the slip I was so happy, the 60ft I saw first was 1.78, I yelled "yeah baby" Then noticed it was not my lane I was reading, I looked and there it was a 1.699..I had to gather the otherdriver to determine if this was accurate. He told me he always gets 1.7-1.8 short times and that I had somehow beaten him, he was also mystified.

Sorry for the long story but I have never again repeated this feat, so I sometimes wonder if it was an error. I am running the same tires now, have hundreds of more runs and 1.83-1.88 is a "great 60ft" more common is 1.90-1.95.

The 60 ft holds the key to getting the 63 sub 12, If I could simply do a 1.75-1.80 id be 11.90's

On your Corsas , they are very similar to the cups, You must heat em and then leave immediately so they stay hot. I know we all should be able to hit 1.70's but this simply requires the proper tire and skill level. I am going to switch tires likely prior to next track event

Josh,since I have no plans on modding my car whatsoever,you will be at the top of the list for some time

I will humbly cling on to my stock E63's record&try to improve upon driver technique as well as keep Atco's legendary environment on my side.Although w my new o.e.m. tires mounted traction should be less of a problem I don't see any major improvements in E.T. on the horizon

There is room to improve and you can go 11.90's, my mods simply allow me to keep up with the quicker E class. No matter what your still #1 and its been a few months. Mo is closing the gap and as most 63's are 100% stock. Both of you need to unload your golf clubs and spare and try and go sub 12.

Holy cr*p, I leave the boards for a while (snow does not make me think of drag racing) and Juice drops the hammer!!! Great job, Josh... you can run around with AMG flags all you want and I'm not going to call you out on it again! Awesome runs for the CLS! And its heavier, and you are west coast, and you are running 19s... wow. Old gixxer, what the hell am I doing wrong on my launch that you are plowing 12.12's? I need some launch counseling for next spring. Are either of you guys loading the converter? I never warm the tires because they are stock contis and I didn't think that worked, old gixxer, do you warm your tires? What do you bring the revs to on the launch? I may have to drive down to NY to watch you run...

Tell ya what, this will make this more interesting. The record holder keeps the flag! The first 63 to go sub 12 in the world will be awarded a cash prize. This will be 100.00 dollars per tenth below 12. An 11.99 gets you 110.00 an 11,98 120. and so on..plus the flag.

Car must be 100% stock except I will allow DOT approved drag radials (with tread) no DOT slicks, OK??we feeling better

I tried loading the converter on a few passes but it did more harm then good(stock Conti's had 9500+mi on them&were slippery)
This time out I will try again as I have new Conti's&they hook 10x better.

I do heat the tires,but do the burnout mostly to get all the debris(pebbles,dirt,sand etc that stick to the tires when the get hot)off so I can launch clean.

I launch at idle...now I just have to get the trans to shift closer to redline in 1st gear.Dealer downloaded some updated TCU software monday so we shall see.

Juicee,very enticing offer you threw out on the table but even if I were to make it into the 11's I would never accept money.Simply putting my name in your sig as "King Of All 63's" would be suffice

I'm going to try out a few more things I wasn't able to try last rental.The few adjustments I did make gained me 3mph so I have 2 more trix up my sleeve to put into play this time round

I must say I went back and reviewed all my passes , if you preload 1100-1200 seems to be a magic spot. I would heat the street tires obviously not in the water but in front of it, 4-5 seconds, also make certain where you place your rear tires is sticky.. walk around out there and pick your spots, have a buddy line up the tires. Make sure you downshift so your speedo says 1. roll out and drop the hammer

Oldgixxer, why not Michellin PS2s I am 100% sure that just the change of tires to Michellin PS2 (even if you leave everything else constant), will make you drop into the 11s

Also, can you PM some information on the TCU? My dealer is retarded and doesn't know how to update or even check for updates on the TCU.

If I put PS2's on the back,then I have to put em on the front too.I really don't want to spend $1200 on tires to possibly go .10 faster down the track.

The stealer rushed me out on monday w/out giving me my paperwork;they didn't even charge me for mounting the tires I brought in......
Think maybe they know I'm gonna LemonLaw this car&didn't want to give me documentation the car was just in for the 5th time for the same brake problem?????Hmmmm,I wonder

Nooooooooooooooooooo............. don't Lemon Law the car for brakes. There is no garauntee the new one won't have the same brake problem after a few hundred miles. Also, you may not get a fast E63 again. Don't Lemon Law the car, just push them to install the new "different" parts not just new "same" parts as you had before. My car never squeaks except for very few and rare occasions, which means there is no reason why yours would if we have the same parts.

I had the tranny reflash today, the dealer said that the TSB was so new that he didn't see it on his computer, but when the Tech plugged in it came up, whatever that means. I haven't checked if it changes my 1st gear shift point yet, though.

Sorry guys but the ECU reset/update made my car SLOWER re: my MPH's. Hope yours don't do the same.

yes&they were installed at the last visit.They put new pads and "revised caliper springs&pad pins&clips as well as some new software updates that just came out for the tranny.

Let me know which way your heading down&maybe we will met up&roll down together

The fastest time when the list was started is now #14,
The 63 has knocked off over 1 second from its initial passes and I am very proud of the participants here. Good luck , as we seek the first sub 12 second pass. I will only keep the top 25 from this point forward. I removed 14 entries.
