Michelin Pilot Sport Cups. I ran through the r compound BFG drag radial in one week 3 track visits. I did manage a 1.92 but this car seems to launch better as if it were at a stop light. The pilot cups are stickier than a street tire but less sticky than the BFG. Now I am certain the 63 needs to be rested, (cooled) the tires hot, pressure at 28, and simply roll out similar to launching with a street tire. Subtle power brake(1000-1200). I was on a slippery side so I took it easy and that is how I did it. I have been hammering the throttle especially with the BFG tire. It seemed to grip no matter what I did. The Pilot Sport cup tires I borrowed prior to buying the BFG had afforded me better 1/4 mile times so I decided to buy a new set. I beat my best time on the first run coming straight off the fwy. After letteing the car sit 30-40minutes I headed out and lined up with a car that beats me 90% of the time. He requested I take the shi* lane. I figured eh, I will just roll out of here, when I saw the time it was a real special moment. Not only did I beat him but seeing the 60 ft time was well quite frankly I assumed the tower ****** up! But I know the camaro runs consistant and had been doing 1.7-1.9 all night. So seeing his 1.9 and my 1.699 reaffirmed the slip. The slip is posted in the best 63 times thread!!
Thanks SISWATI,

Also from Dragtimes.
Rflow with the fastest non Nitrous E in the US.
1.714 and went on to a final of 11.341
Really REALLY great 60ft at LACR!!! Great job Juice!!
If I am not mistaken, you are the first regular dragging E63 in the US as well. Haven't read the whole post, but if you have not shared your launch technique, may wanna post it up for the other 63 guys.

[QUOTE=Jakpro1;2228310]Just to put that awesome 60ft in perspective, that was near identical to a gentleman we call Mr Derek FSU (first 10 sec E)

Wow, that makes me feel really really good!!
I know some of the guys here are INCREDIBLE drivers.
Jakpro, Thanks for filling me in on how good this is, I just thought it was good because I beat a pretty fast Camaro that was feeding me his *** end all last week on the 1/8th mile track at Irwindale. So I fugured beating hime in the poor lane was fairly amazing. I have posted the technique in the best times thread.
Also I am running the heavier CLS 63 030. I only post here cause I know this is where all the good drivers hang out!!! Are you going to SAC June 2nd? I will try to get there and hopefully match this 60 ft and run a low 12!
Thanks again for all your comments,
Josh

Nice 60' time. Please do not take this the wrong way - but is a 1.69 60 foot time really that surprising for drag radials at LACR? Is there no track prep at all there? Do they actually charge you guys money to run there?
EDIT - Just caught up and saw it was on Pilot Sport Cups. Juicee are those track-only tires, or are you going to use them day to day?

A car with less power has a good chance of beating a 997 @LACR and the Z06 is suffering here more than any car I have seen. I guess the weight? The 997 is all about the launch and seems everyone I have seen up here has real trouble getting off the line.
A good Z06 time would be Low 12's@115-118. Best Z06 time I have actually seen ready 13.1@116. I have seen the 997 TT do 12.4@115. But the guy also ran a 13.7 . The cars are all over the place at LACR. Its anybody's race up there.
Cars with drag radials do well at LACR, if your going to this track to measure times you would be wise to get a BFG or hoosier compound R drag tire. I can run on Michelin because the car will not send huge tq to the wheel upon launch. The CLS needs to be launched as if you were kicking back listening to jazz..

Those 60' times will crumble when you get your car to the track with some drag radials. I know that first hand. I also believe the non-nitrous record will fall as well, at least, as soon as you get out of the Himalayas and down to a more reasonable altitude to race.
