New to the MB world, looking for E55
Well, I just totalled my Z06 (2002) and now I think I'll move in a different direction. I can only afford to have one car, so something as raw as the Z is out of the picture for now. I find myself looking for something with a little more mass, and a little less speed. I've always admired the E55, I think it's a beautiful machine and now I think I'd like to own one.
I'll be looking for an 03-04 used. Is there anything I should watch out for? Any big differences between the two years? Are there any known problems/weakness of these cars?
Thanks for all the help in advance!

Whoa gentlemen, didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. Let me rephrase that...
I am looking for something more stable, and not as raw of power delivery as the Z.
But in regards to the faster car, I'm sure that'll be debated til the end of time..
FinalSpeed, very nice car indeed! It's a little out of my budget right now and I was hoping to start fresh, but thanks for the offer.
Thanks for the welcome!

No offense, but I think you may want to drive a W211 E55 soon. I think you're gonna be surprised to find out that the MB will have MORE raw power than your vette. I know it's hard to believe but unless your C5 was modified, the E55 is much more beastly.
Go drive one tonight or tomorrow at your local dealer and report back. Would love to know your feelings after driving it.

Actually I have not driven one yet, I have however driven against a couple. On a closed course of course and I did find the Z victorious, however I don't want to get off on the wrong foot here lol.
I am here though, because I love the car and would love to own one.
Thanks for the link, I'll check that out!

Don't take any offense....the "Vette is superior" topic is a little touchy around here. Just ask The Ricker, he's always bustin our chops.
Seriously, take a test drive in a 55. It's a beautiful thing.
Welcome and feel free to ask any questions you have.

I need your guys help and the last thing I wanna do is come in here and throw the Vette stick around
I prefer the quarter mile myself even though the Vette excels in the twisties. The reason I gravitated towards the E55 is because I love how it faired in our encounters and the fact that inside, it was probably a lot more comfortable.
It's just too hard to have a stiff two seater as my only car, which is why I won't get back into another Vette just yet. I drive from San Diego to Oakland a lot and the drive is ok, but could be better.
I'd like to test drive one, but there aren't any in my area at the moment.

The nearest one at a dealership is a little far, and I don't want to go drive one from a private party with no intention of buying it. I'd be wasting their time.
I won't be ready to buy for at least another 2 months most likely.
