Thats the best statement Ive read in this whole forum. You're brilliant.

M3 = Fun car to drive , and Mod.

speed and handling all in one

I'm a huge M3 fan. I've owned three including two E46 cars. The problem with that car is that it will not get to the states until next year and when it does I do not want the first year production. I know they will need to iron out at least a few kinks. Also, I live in a state that gets plenty of snow so driving a RS4 in the winter sounds more appealing than my current SUV.

No doubt the RS4 is a fantastic car. But if you already have an E55, I would get the 997 in that price range without a doubt. Yes, there is magic in the RS4, but IMHO there is even more magic in a RWD 997. Anyone who has driven a 996 or 997 on track knows what I mean.

Granted, it is less practical. But you have a sedan already.

I would test drive the RS4 again and the 997 back to back before you decide.

Don't get me wrong, I love Audis. And if I could have just one car, something like the RS4 would be a very nice choice. But as a second "fun" car, I don't think so.

Nicely put Finnish c32!
JRocket-Care to tell more about your S4? Auto or Manual? My son is looking at getting one and we both really like it, but there aren't any close Audi dealers that have them in stock (or any close Audi dealers period..) He's looking at them from 04-07s, so you're right in there. Is your's the 2005.5 new body or the 2005 B6 body style? Either car is WONDERFUL in my opinion, and some of these things with less than 20k miles can be picked up just barely north of STi/Evo territory. Too bad for the original owner, the depreciation is awful, but it sure is nice for the second buyer. Any mods? Things to look for/avoid?
P.S. Rocket- Get an RS4. It may have 4 doors, but it sounds and goes better than most cars with 2. Last August there was an article in Road and Track that had unlikely comparisons (in terms of car body style) that had very similar performance numbers. One was RS4 vs. Carrera 4S. To the best of my memory, the RS4 was much preferred to the Carrera. Sure you could get a RWD, but then what of that snow performance you're looking for? Nothing beats a 400+ horse V8 and AWD in the snow. And that exhaust note!

I have the B6 body style. At first the B7's didnt appeal to me but now they most definately do.Mines the tiptronic, fully loaded silver with charcoal/ebony interior.I would recommend him leasing a new S4 over purchasing unless you try to buy a clean used one.Audi owner are a very tight group, brand loyal and love their cars from what I've seen.Obviously run a carfax on anything used you buy and see if the car has the full maintanence program, some years did and some didnt.

Exactly... why get another 4 door? If you want 400 hp in the snow, get a Jeep SRT8... hard to beat its fun factor, and its half the price. haha... I love mine. I smoke everything off the line.

I had the same problem when i was searching for a second car....test drove an rs4 and loved it... still do..

but guess what... i bought brand new Landcruiser and an EVO9 for almost the same price.

which brings u to another option... the evo9... last of the great mitsu evo.

here r the cons FIRST..
no creature comforts... interior quality nowhere near the germans...

BUT here r the pros..

outhandles all the porsches and rs4 out there on the track
the mods are endless... have u herd of the AMS Evo9 ? go to youtube and do a search.

so my reason for buying one was
its an amazing car to drive in the stock form... handles like a gem ... i cannot think bout doing stuff in my 55 that i do so easily with the evo..
its awd so snow is not a problem...(even tho there is no snow here in Dubai)
like i said earlier... sky is the limit when it comes to modding this thing... i mean the amount of money i have alrdy spent on the 55, i can have one of a kind monster evo with still some money to spare...

before u make any decision... go test drive one if u can..

heres mine in white... some bolt on upgrades... waiting for new mods this winter..

The RS4 is an awesome little car - had they announced doing it in a wagon, I would have ordered one instead of getting the Benz. Audi's interiors are first rate and the performance of that car is just outstanding.

And I don't think that comparing to an S4 is even worthwhile - it's a totally different beast.

I already have a two door sports car and the RS4 is nothing like the E55. It is a very involving car.............. like a M3.

The E55 is a thing of beauty, a sweet highway cruiser and stop light warrior but it falls short in stimulating all of your nerve endings. Owning an E55 is like having the hottest lady on the block............................... You love to take her out................... show her off................let strangers make a fuss over her but when it's time to do the nasty nasty..............well, she just fails to stimulate all of your senses.
I completely agree with you. I used to have a 2004 Audi S4 and even though it was a lot slower than the E55, it was a lot more fun to drive around simply because it handled so much better and it was easier to dart around in. I would definitely get the RS4.

If I was in my twenties I would be seriously consider an Evo or STI. Unfortunately, those cars just don't seem like the kind of car a mature adult, like myself (haha) should be driving.

Loren, I do like the SRT8 very much but the one time I went to look at them, I was so turned off by my experience at the dealership that I dismissed the possibility of owning one.

While I love Porsche and the appreciate what great cars they are , I can't bring myself to purchase one because of the stereotype............guy in midlife crisis!!!!! Same goes for the Z06 except now my reason............ the gold chain thing. Yeah, I know I got some issues.

Anyways, I going back today for another look and drive. Thanks for all the help guys.
