Ive been thinking about doing this to my E55, but wont it hurt performance due to lack of backpressure for the blower? The 63's are NA, so assume they would gain from deleting the mufflers.. any thoughts? I really wanna do this, the resonator removal just isnt enough.

Thanks

Walter

on a FI motor you might loose some mid range, it should open up the top end regardless though. i "supposedly" lost power in the midrange, i cant feel it though, and the top end definitely made up for what i lost, if any.

the good thing about this is that its easily reversible, cut the mufflers off, drive it, if you dont notice any loss then chop the tips off and weld them on the car, if you do notice a loss then just put the mufflers back

I pulled the resonator off and put an Eiesman street exhaust on.
I would not want any more sound. It worked out fine. It rumbles real nice.
WOT is a rush too.

A resonator is a part of the exhaust working with the muffler to reduce noise. They delete it by cuting it out and replace it with straight pipes, x-pipes, etc.
I deleted mine, however i want more!!!! Does give you a tad bit throatier sound after deleting the resonator. Correct me if i'm wrong, but it wasn't that BIG of a sound change

so if they cut it is there any welding or they just put some fittings on it for the pips to connect together. could i take it to someplace like midas or do i need to take it to a muffler shop and around how much would it be? How does it sound inside the car? I want it to be as loud as it could be outside but not that loud in the inside, cause sometime its a family car.

I had my resonator removed like 2 hours ago, then had it put back on like 20 minutes ago. Reason why? If i had keeped it off i would have gotten my *** kicked by my dad. He bought me this car then said i better take care of it and not to do anything stupid to it like race it or even smoke in it. When it was removed i then drove down the road like holly ****. I thought it will sound a little lounder like a sport car thinking my dad wouldnt notice a thing but it sound like a monster truck. I then did a uturn back to the muffler shop and had it put back on. It doesnt sound like a luxury high end car but like a truck. I thought it would sound the same but louder with the resonator off but it sounds aloat different. It only sound louder when i accelerate but same when cruising. cost $70 to take off then $70 to put back on.

$70 to take off and put straight pipes (or x-pipe) on. Pretty cheap. You live in U.S.?

after hearing blue_monsters ml63 (no resonators and no mufflers) i suggest keep the resoantor and chop the mufflers, it doesnt sound good without the resonator, its like a powerboat
keeping the resonator should keep the quality of the sound and removing the muffler should make it louder. however, be warned, its not gonna be unnoticible, my dad still *****es about my car, cant do much though, he did get teh car for me

With the resonator off it sounds like what you here everyday, like a mustang or a dodge charger with custom exhaust. Not the right sound for a high end performance car. With the resonator on it sounds like an high end performance car but not that loud. I would like to keep the same sound but just a bit louder.
