Lowering MOdule- Renntech? Brabus? in Southern California
Dear all,
Thinking about lowerig the car through one of these devices, anyone has good experience in southern california local shops? Can you recommend them? Price? HOw's the quality? Can I adjust them in the car? Lowered my car through star, but after alignment, the car went back.... I assumed by using the module I can lower the car back or no effect after alignment right?
Thanks

I have the Renntech in my 65 and the Kleemann in the 55 ... The Renntech is my choice IMO. The Kleeman while good is more difficult to adjust and the Renntech gives a better drop (up to 50mm). I dont think my Kleemann can go that low but I maybe wrong

Go with the RT. Easier to adjust and digital controller will not be effected by operating temperature of the electronics vs. other proportional based designs. Makesure you're either familar with wiring diagrams, splicing, and soldering or get a shop that has done the RT before. You could always drive up to Adam at EuroElites and have him put some more goodies on!

HOw's the quality? my guess is the lower you go the harsher it gets.
Can I adjust them in the car? yes, if you get the renntech module. having my knob in the armrest box.
I assumed by using the module I can lower the car back or no effect after alignment right? Right!
getting mine installed right now. will let you know how i feel about it, later on today. the car was lowered via the washer method, but it wasnt low enough and height is not consistant.

So after lowering the car, did you need alignment? Anyone has the CLS lowered pic? If so, can you indicate how much lowering you have done? I still have the stock AMG Split rims, will it look ghetto after the lowering? Thank you!

Is the Renntech lowering module a DIY job? I looked at the installation manual and it didn't look too bad, but it wasn't clear how you get the car level after the installation (since each corner is independently adjustable).

yes, i was told to get an alignment. just got it installed today and had it dropped REAL low.... i'm going to re-adjust a tad higher. I'll try and take a few photos tomorrow so you can get an idea how low it can go.
having stock amg wouldnt look ghetto, just as long as you dont drop it too much imo....

i dropped the car off at 11am this morning and wasnt completed until 6pm. if you're not electrical savy, i would just pay an expert to do the install.

Thanks for the feedback, guys!
re: the adjustment after installation -- I was talking about calibrating the height for each wheel, not a 4 wheel alignment. Or is the 4 wheel alignment all that is needed?
I had noted the correction to the wiring diagram...I wonder if they'll ever fix it?
I read through the instructions, and it looks like something I'd be comfortable doing. But I'm worried about getting halfway through and having an issue and needing a tow to a Renntech shop or something. I'll have to think about it some more.

I discovered the mistake in the wiring diagram while I was installing mine.. I think the product is the best lowering module on the market.
Its made by another company and Renntech just has exclusive distribution rights to it... The company that makes it specializes in building those types of electronics.
Its funny that even until now they havent corrected the manual.. LOL..

You will need to do a full 4 wheel alignment.
Just keep in mind that your car will be forced outside of the normal boundaries and they wont be able to get it within spec. Just tell the guy to get it as close as possible..
My car is slammed down, and I have inner tire wear on the front... Rears are fine. I guess I need to find camber adjustment bolts or something...
