Does anyone have a step-by-step how to on swapping steering wheels?

Love that wheel. Hell, I like the Black itself. I called the local stealer and inquired. Seems they have ONE allocated to them. Had a buyer but guy backed out after they told him he would have to pay $15K OVER MSRP. I asked how much it would be and was quoted $160,000. I said thanks...but no thanks.

Help removing center #10 Allen from wheel
Anyone have any experience removing the center allen bolt that secures the steering wheel to the car? I have everything off except this bolt and it does not want to budge.
Ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance for any help.

E63 Install help
I have the steering wheel, but I am leary to try the install myself, any step by steps on how to swap out on the E63 would be greatly appreciated.
For the record, I screw up everything I touch on these installs, so it has to be pretty simple.
Thanks,

My only word of advise is to unplug the airbag first and to re-connect it last. Other than that, my MP designs wheel install took about 30minutes max. Do some searches on it. There was a very nice write up with pictures.

1. I started off by disconnecting the positive lead from my battery in the trunk.
2. I then removed the two #27 torx screws located behind the wheel (the screws don't actually come out, just lossen until airbag gets lose).
3. I then removed the black plug that is top center of the airbag.
4. I then pulled up the tabs on the yellow and green plugs that then allows the plugs to be removed from the airbag.
5. The airbag can then be removed.
6. I then removed the #10 Allen bolt that holds the wheel with the help of my wife and a 1/2" breaker bar with a #10 Allen socket. (It is on tight!)
7. I then simply reversed the process with the DTM wheel.
Things I learned:
1. take digital pictures of your process so you can remember how things were. This is how I knew the wiring that came on the DTM wheel was opposite of what was on my factory wheel.
2. Check both paddles on the DTM wheel to make sure the wires are not pinched and /or servered.
With this knowledge you will really only need 30-45 min for the whole swap if you are going from the E63 wheel to the DTM wheel.
The wheel is sweeettt.
Good luck!

I thought that wheel was compatible with the E63 airbag and NOT the E55 one. Is that not so. I think it can be done on an E55, but you'd have to pay the extra $700 for the airbag. I really dunno, since I have the MP designs wheel. I love it, but just wish it were a bit smaller.

W211 E55 AMG
the 06e55 is fine, but the electrics are different in te o5, 04 and 03 e55s.
This has been figured out by finny in his "stock to awe" project (he rocks).
He even posted instructions on how to get "piggy back" the new electrics on to the old ones here

CLK 63 Black wheel udate
So after figuring out the technical issue (which I am feeling better about as the seller was quite apologetic and eager to swap paddles once I mail it back to them) and driving my car last night and all day today I have to say this DTM wheel is AWESOME! It really feels like I am driving a race car now
I like the aspect that the wheel is OEM AMG and since I was not able to get the P30 package on my car when I ordered it, I am now able to have one of the package benefits as I believe the 2008 P30 packages will be built with this DTM asymetrical wheel.
The wheel feels a lot smaller and thicker and contours to hand placement perfect to tap the shift paddles as the thumb cut outs are much more defined then the factory wheel.
The price of the wheel was also pretty reasonable considering the prices of several after market wheels.

So if i understand correctly, all i need to do is swap out my current (E55)airbag for a newer (E63) airbag?

I read the link, he has a '03, i have an '06. From what i understand, you don't need to rewire the '06's, only the 2003-05's.
