Nazgul unleashed
Just moved up from a C32 to a black on black E63 and finally got it over 1000 miles and unleashed it. WOW! When breaking it in at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle, it already felt faster than the C32. Dipping further into the accelerator now brings along a ridiculous amount of thrust accompanied by a symphonic soundtrack. My favorite audio choice is my right foot, not the radio/iPod/Sat/CD. That V8 sounds and FEELS fantastic as the whole car rumbles underfoot. And this thing gets 22mpg on the highway! Now I just have to learn how to clean and wash a black car and off to the hunt...

Had to go 1/4 throttle until after 1000 mile break-in
Tried to stay under 4500 rpm during first 1000 miles so drove it at quarter throttle only, and that was plenty fast. After putting 1000 miles on it, I downshifted and ran it up to 7000rpm. WOW! What a fun car and what a soundtrack!!!
Now I just have to learn how to keep it clean. My C32 was silver...

You need to really push her now. Let me know where the car is shifting out full throttle. There is a significant difference between 63's. My car seems to want to shift out of first early, while cars that are driven extreemely hard shift @7100-7200 and that shift point gives a slight advantage while racing. funny you mention fuel. I have achieved 26.3 mpg thats my record for a tank so far. Your car looks great and yeah BLACK CARS are sooooooooo difficult to clean. GLTY , have fun
Must you fill up and then drive 50 miles and check your fuel economy, you can't stay off the track that long, comon??

Actually it was on my trip returning from SAC on 06/02/2007. I was tired so I cruised from Sac to LA at 83 mph and actually threw the car into N a few times on hills. I was getting 18.3 going 93 mph then that quickly dropped to 16.3. On the track the 63 get 8-13 mpg But yeah a slow moving 63 could get some good economy. I know it seems weird and I rarely drive for economy.. I think I even filmed the 26.3 mpg but figured the membership here would be quite bored by such a display , LOL
Sorry for the thread jack and WELCOME TO THE MB AMG family no matter how dysfunctional.

Wide open throttle
Got some twisties around here and switched to manual mode and paddle shifted up and down around the bends. It's a blast. Will try it in sport mode and see when it upshifts. It really is a problem when 1st gear gets 40+mph, and 2nd gets over 70mph, meaning for most roads, I only get to shift between 1st and 2nd...In manual mode, I once forgot to shift and the limiter kicked in. Man does this thing wind up fast. My favorite is running the engine up to 7000rpm, then shift and do it all over again. I know: trouble in paradise. Can't believe such a comfortable car performs so well in the twisties...
