Race gas, lots of boost and 2800 to 3000lbs make it a little easier to do.

Nice, but with enough money one could launch into orbit around the sun.

SL65 AMG
EVOMS has a 996 that runs in the 9's as well. It is the gt850 pkg. I know the cost for the gt800 pkg is like 75k just for the motor. These cars can be bad and they have some very good tuners. There is a bad gt800 for sale in Chicago for 120k. Car has 7800 miles and must have 100k worth of motor, suspension, body, wheels, sound etc.

That car is not 2800-3000lbs, ease up with the misinformation. And why would you guys not be impressed?

I've got an E55 wagon and a 996TT, mod and race both of them, admire anyone pushing the boundaries...which Markski definitely did . First privately owned 996TT in the 9's. What's not to love?

Couple of things:

To address Silversurfer, there are faster older cars than marks...they are just more private about it such as alexander. That's not to try and discredit you or markskis AWESOME car I'm just letting you know.

Anyone who isn't impressed by marks car is an idiot, or just doesn't like cars. Why am I not surprised to see this out of an E55 owner? E55s are nice and all but they are not cool enough to act like you aren't impressed by a street car with a 9sec 1/4

The car looks to be a 2wd conversion just like my buddy's, which weighs just under 3000lbs. He has run 10.40's at 138 with 650 + rwHP. So my mistake if it weighs more.

Either way you are correct it is impressive and I should have also said that.

Please tell me what your buddy did to shave 700lbs off his car. The 2wd conversion alone won't touch that.

Why,because I dont think this car is amazing? It traps a nice speed, but its not THAT impressive too me.Its s light weight car on a slick that barely got into the 9's with high hp.Why am I not suprised sombody is going to come out of the closet to join in when they get their feelers hurt?

Dont generalize the E55 owners out there, alot of people in here will love that car and what it has done....They have every right too,Im just not one of them.

So take your pick, idiot or car hater..you can call me what you like!

Why don't we post about all the 1.6L Honda's running in the 9's as well Because they are time bombs with limited driveability and longevity on the street.

A stock 996TT weighs approx. 3500lbs. You said your buddy's car weighs under 3000lbs. You alluded to Mark's car weighing between 2800-3000lbs. I generalized that (3500-2800 = 700lbs.)

I would genuinely love to see a list of weight reducing mods for a 996TT claiming sub 3000# weight.

I have no reason (and every reason) not to believe you, as I said...I would love to see the mods he has done to accomplish this.

Mark's car's weight? 3260 (no driver) according to this post - http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/s...5&postcount=14

DTM will be here in about two weeks, believe me, you guys will be some of the first to see the pics.

It looks like you can get these things under 3,000 lbs - http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=90533

Add a 2wd conversion to all those things and looks like it would be under 3,000 lbs.

That's my point! That is his daily driver! It's not some drag strip toy he takes out every couple of months. That's the beauty of protomotive and the way they program cars, my buddy has about 1200rwhp in his 996TT and it's his daily driver. That's why I love the 996tt, I no longer own one, actually driving a e55 daily now, but that is impressive. 9 seconds on a car that can be driven home is pretty damn special. Sure he used slicks for this run, but E55 owners do that all the time. I'm sorry if you don't think a daily driver with the creature comforts of a 9966TT and 800+ rwhp is impressive, what does impress you? The Enzo must seem like a POS to you.

Absolutely, it can be done, but not many people do it. It takes a lot of dedication to transform the car and it's no longer really streetable/comfortable at that point.
