why does the E63's steering feel so different than my 2005 E55?
I just spent several hours behind the wheel of my friend's brand new E63 and came away very impressed.
The E63's steering feel was much more precise and firmer than my E55. In low speed manuevering, my E55 felt more like a Lexus with overassisted steering compared to the 63, which felt more like an M-Car.
I have an 10/04 production car that should have the updated steering rack (slider arm rest) and the updated control arm and bushings. I don't know if i have the updated front shocks though.
What other suspension differences does the E63 have over the 2005 E55?
I also have 20" wheels with 245/30 front tires and 285/25 in the rear. Would this make my car feel quicker in the steering and give the overassisted feel?
I am kinda bummed after driving the 63.
Thanks in advance for your help

Actually, the steerig in the E63 is tuned to be much softer. My '06 has the counter active feel and I love it. It definitely takes more than a finger to turn my wheel. BUT, I do run fatter tires up front so that may have something to do with it.

05 E55
I have the same impressions after recently upgrading to an 05 E55 from a
C55. I loved the fat steering wheel and the heavy feel of the C55.
I expected the steering to be tighter but I was willing to give that up for the improvements in other areas.
Is there anything we can do that is cost affective to make the steering feel more "weighted"?
