Anyone successful removing the air bag stickers from sun visors?

On my drivers side its lifting from one corner, it looks like the artwork is part of the adhesive as the part lifting is a clear matte plastic film. If i peel it off the artwork is still on the alcantara

I am hessitant to rip it off or try to remove it. Spoke with one trim shop they told me leave it alone.

HAs anyone removed them if so how and what chemical cleaner solvent was used?

I got mine off, but was able to get them to peel as one piece. A little bit of the yellow backing stayed, but I used a terrycloth towel to get it to ball up and come off.

The dealer exchanged a faulty sun visor (wouldn't stay up) with a new one for me. I was able to pull the sticker off without incident but when I moved over to the the 3 year old visor on the passanger side, it wasn't going to cooperate. If it bothers you that much, price new visors, my guess is they come with no stickers and the tech who installed mine ordered and installed the sticker. Because it had not adhered very well it slipped right off.
Good luck,
Warren.

Use a hair dryer to get the adhesive very hot, then gently pull the sticker off. You may need to do a section at a time, alternately heating and pulling. Use Goo Gone to get rid of the remaining adhesive. It comes off easier if the glue is hot.

I got them both off cleanly. First peel off the top layer which unfortunately leaves the glue. Then use WD40 on a rag (small area) to dissolve and wipe clean the glue. Follow up with Windex to clean the WD40 off. That's how I did it.

not sure on the E63 the decals appear different from 55

there is a clear plastic piece that peels off leaving the artwork/glue on the visor

I just did the drivers side its a pain in the ***. i used AFTA, a microfiber cloth and bristle brush to loosen it up, i then used my air compressor to blow all the solvent off, its now drying in the sun, its humid today so i wont install til morning it will smell the car up nicely.

I wish it peeled off in one piece just leaving the glue, mine you rub the glue then the color of the sticker breaks up into fine dust and gets everywhere

im not doing the other side today thats for sure

No stains from the WD-40? I'll give that a shot, too.

Nice!! I pulled some of the stickers on my '05, but one or two got ugly so I left the '06 alone. Now that I have a way to clean it up, I'll go back and pull them all.

Could this be more serious than taking a tag off your mattress? Warranty issue?

I used goo gone to remove them. It worked well but is a pain to get them off. When it dried there were no stains but I did put the goo gone on the entire visor so that it would not leave a ring on the area where the stickers were.

passenger side just done. It was much easier

I used AFTA again saturated the decal and took a razor blade and scraped in one direction, all the color and glue gels up, it takes a few times and when done i took more AFTA on a microfiber cloth and rubbed the entire area clean, took the razor again and squeezed all the excess cleaning fluid out from the alcantara and let air dry.

use the razor blade it saves alot of time
