Disappointed in the E55
This thread was initiated by Individual A sitting at his/her computer whom was interested in finding out information regarding whether or not his/her E55 was underperforming.
Another individual, Individual B, responded in an effort to help this individual out. However, his/her contribution included information that seemed "fishy." As an owner of an 2004 E55, I might not go so far as to say the vehicle "feels slow," but I must admit that I often complain about it not performing as well as I would like it to perform...
In any event, shortly after...some other individuals began trying to call Individual B a liar and the entire thread metamorphasized from a "place to share your information" to a "place to defend your pride." As this downwards-spiral continued, Individual A's question remained unanswered as everyone else was too caught up in the action.
In the end, Individual A's questions were never answered as his/her thread went in a totally different direction. Individual B neither proved himself/herself nor was he/she proven to be a liar. The only thing that WAS PROVEN was this: Pride is detrimental to rational behavior. Pride is what led people to start "picking on" Individual B, whom was only trying to help. Pride is what led Individual B to retord in his/her defense. Ultimately, pride is what fueled this entire thread and what fueled a big waste of time. As amusing/interesting as it was, the purpose of the forum was never served as the individual who started the forum's question was never answered...
Now that I've given my input on this thread, I must point out that my E55 often disappoints me as well. I sometimes find myself questioning whether or not I made a good investment in this car. I find myself wondering whether or not the car is performing as well as it was the day prior. Is it all psycholgical? Is there a problem with the car? Do I need to take it for another run and put myself at risk of getting another speeding ticket?
While the idea that my "performance car" is "underperforming" can be frustrating, I cannot deny that any frustration that I have with the car is nothing compared to the satisfaction that it brings me. Regardless whether it "feels slow" or "feels fast," whether it's better to "drive it to a motel" or to "use it AS a motel," at the end of the night, I sleep better knowing that it's safely parked in my garage. When push comes to shove, it has made my life a better place and that's all that matters....After all, thats really why I bought it in the first place right?

Now I believe there are a few reasons for the motor been lazy, as I like to call it.
This is what I have learned from reading here on the forum and from memory, please chip in J
- ECU learns how you drive the car. So if you drive slowly, granny mode is engaged.
- Supercharger is not engaged
- The weather is too hot!
Now if you want ECU to learn that you want to go fast
- Either do an ECU reset
- Or just do full throttle runs from standstill a few times and she will wake up
Incase of heat and supercharger not engaging
- Could be a failed ic pump (intercooler pump is it?)
- Out side temps are high or the car is getting to hot, so it disengages the supercharger.
- Could be other factors, but those are the common ones that people bring up it seems.
Now this weekend I had a gathering at my mouse till 6 in the morning, as I walked them outside to their cars, the temps shocked me. They were low compared to usual… it was cool in a way (33c!) with some breeze.
I looked at my car, but I was so sleepy, so I took my self to bed. As I sat there trying to sleep I was thinking…. Why not go for a spin and see the nice early open roads and cool weather
.All I can say is OMG the difference I felt in the car. I advise that once in a while take your beast out at crazy hours (open roads, nice weather) and see if you notice anything.
Driving in traffic everyday just makes you forget.
All I can say is, I came home and just collapsed. Nothing like sex in the morning
! Or exhaustion
.
In regards to the icon, I'm afraid I must agree...for I obsess about this car way too much.
