ROCK I had a feeling you would come out!!! I hinted to others over the years " I bet he owns a Z3. Thats some "E55" you have there wink wink, LOL. Dam this is a great day in MBWORLD history. No wonder you have a hard time driving your rented 55 down the dragway!! Do not be ashamed of the Z3 man that thing is supreme on a twisty road. I for one COMMEND YOU for wiping the slate clean and admitting this in a public forum. GLTY

Entertaining thread.

I'm also a fairly new member to this community and being a new member I think you should be polite and humble initially with your new found family.

Many things said do seem far fetched...

Dad buys a ferrari for you but never drives it. I mean, surely even the richest of people would want to drive a ferrari they bought? Also by the looks of the garage it seems the owner is quite keen on cars and looking after them.

Talking about threesomes and having 2 girls sitting ontop of each other (cue Batman forever / lambo scene if you've seen it), playing with your golf buddies and generally sounding affluent at such a young age, does sound far fetched. And even if it is true mentioning all those irrelevent facts to a new community can imply an arrogant personality.

I am not such a fan of the plastics used (e.g. air vents) - but build quality is better. When puling the front end off the car for the rad upgrade all the parts felt super light ... lots of Aluminum (aka Aluminium) used... suppose it would weigh 3 tonnes if they used steel... but does not make me feel any better.

Whatever Gangsta...at 18 years old I was rollin' in a 997TT, Bentley Continental GTC, SL55, 750Li, S550, CLK500, E350, Escalade, Explorer, and a few more cars I don't remember. Yes, all these cars were in my driveway, yes I had the keys to them all.

Now the difference is, just because I drive them doesn't mean I own them. Please don't try to show off on these forums or prove how rich you are (or your Daddy is for that matter), nobody wants to hear it or read through 3 pages of a thread that started out as someone looking for a simple answer to a legit question. Otherwise, take it easy. Enjoy drivin' the old man's Ferrari and don't get so defensive. Who cares?

I don't think ANYONE has said the E55 wasn't a spctacular car. Personally I think it's the best all around car for a daily driver money can buy. I like 63s but they lack torque, and on a DD I personallly love having what seems like unlimited torque. Even if you have a higher powered car below 60 it's hard to get the tires to hookup. My dad wanted to get a flying spur or a Maybach but short of living in miami/nyc/greenwhich/LA those types of cars are too high profile. For a young person a big car such as the S or 7 series is too big. Sports cars are awsome or the winter but what about when you are trying to have a threesome? I tried to get two girls to sit on each other laps in the porsce once, needless to say it didnt workout, guess I should have gotten a Turbo cab. I love my back seats, and trunk. I can go play golf with my buddies and not think twice. Also when you go out on a road trip like for me to chitown or something its nice to have that extra space. Personally I would reccomend the E55/63 to anyone between the ages of 18-40 as the best DD if you have the means to purchase one.

The build quality of the W211 was the return of mercedes being better than Audi and BMW. My father knows a bunch of people at AMG usa and MBUSA and complained none stop about the previous model S-class and the quality issues. When the W211 came out Mercedes cited that as their evidence of their new quality controls. Mercedes did have an issue in the late 90s and 2000ish but the W211 is a very high quality car. As someone who has always owned audis, and my father has an A8, he HATES audi as do i. Don't even get me started on their quality.

Mercedes is not a Test Drive car. What I mean by that is you can't appreciate the car by just driving it a few minutes. Owning one however is a completely different experience. There are so many little things that you don't get on the BMWs and Audis. When I got my car I was talking about it with my dad and we both kind of agreed everything about a MB is about 30% better than an Audi and 20% better than a BMW (yes thats pure opinion not objectivity). It's little things like how quickly the engine heats up the cabin when it's cold out, or the quality of the dorr threadsholds and how they stand up to wear and tear, or the speed with which the air conditioner can cool down the cabin. There are so many things you don't even notice about the car that just contribute to an over all superior driving experience.
Wait a sec...

Did he just completely out himself and give up??

I don't know why everyone is ganging up on ttgangsta. He is a really nice kid and 100% legit.

I guess people will always hate on rich kids for whatever reason. I made my own money even though I came from a fairly affluent background, but surely I don't hold it against those who were fortunate enough to have generous parents.

P.S. The E55 is a great luxo boat and pretty quick... but it's really not a particularly inspiring car once you've owned Porsches, Ferraris, or any other purpose built sports car. E55 reminds me of the old MOPAR muscle cars but with a nicer interior. It would be nice if these cars could actually take a corner precisely. I am not really a fan of the M5, but jesus that car handles so much better... even my friend's 760Li seems to give more feedback.

Hopefully, the CLK Black Series will finally fix that problem, and its features will trickle down to the E-Class one day...

Hey, but my sister likes driving it to work... so I guess it does it's job. And I like to take the Benz to nightclubs, where I toss the key to the valet and not give a **** about it... and even better entertain drunk passengers at 3am with the torque... Drunk girls really like the E55, even though they can't distinguish it from an E350.

Flame suit on!

Just a comment not meant to offend but how many people can you fit in a Porsche or Ferrari? The 55 is not a sports car. Given what it is, and it's intended purpose, I think it holds its own pretty well. Same thing for Porsches and Ferraris, they do what they are designed to do well.

Given what you have said... if price isn't an issue... isn't the S65 better in almost every way?

I like the E55 because it's pretty inconspicuous on the road, but I think next time the 65 cars are the way to go. The drunk ones really oughta like that car.

It seems to me that you can upgrade the V12 TT much more reliably than the V8 Kompressor. From my limited personal experience, it seems that every upgraded E55 has some sort of problem after some miles (like 20-30K+ miles), especially those that have gone beyond pulley and ECU. Even stock E55's seem to have oil leaks after about 40-50K miles.

From a handling standpoint, the ABC sport and the suspension setup in the 65 also seems to be much better. Still no Porsche or Ferrari, but not bad for a big Benz. Pretty flat cornering. Pop in a chip and you get 700hp... not bad.

WHY? Is the truth that hurtful?

Why is it that people worship the E55 so much and its owners want to put their head in the sand or get defensive anytime someone dare mentions a flaw with the car?

I happen to have bought one of the last 2006 E55's made and it's ok for what it is. But how could I say it's the best car I own when I have a GT2 that eats it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and provides a much more exhilarating experience? Just like how could I say that the GT2 is the best if I drove a Carrera GT every day?

What we have is a luxurious muscle car wrapped in an incognito shell. It's a cool formula. It can be upgraded to create a drag racing monster. But the fact is that it handles like **** and has engine reliability problems... plain and simple.

Hurtful? You think some random in a internet forum is going to hurt me with words?

I don't remember saying anything about being hurt. I said in my post:

With remarks like: Hey, but my sister likes driving it to work... so I guess it does it's job or where I toss the key to the valet and not give a **** about it, in an E55 forum, your not adding anything positive to the discussion or even mentioning a cars flaws, you're clearly just stiring the pot.

Everyone knows that a GT3 is a better purpose built sports car than an E55, because well it is a sports car, duh. The E55 is not. So what is it exactly that your trying to prove? That's like saying a Ninja is a better purpose built sports bike than a Harley, yeah no ****.

I don't worship my E55, i got too many wonderful things in my life to love than a piece of metal.

By the way, you are correct, the GT2 is definitely a pos compared to a Carrera GT.

Yes, I am sure you have had plenty of seat time in both... I doubt you could drive a GT2 to even 50% of its limit.

Though, no matter... that's why I'm getting a CGT too!

I laughed because i knew that line would bother you & i was right because you've already written two inimical posts because of it. Why would you have anything to prove to me, i don't even know you. Also, never judge a man's wealth by the automobiles he owns.

I'm done with this stupidity. Have a nice day.
