I own an E55, never driven an E63 and have yet to see one in Finland. I saw one in the car show. My point is why would Mb make a car that would be slower than the preceding car? That would be aginst all car makers trends and higly unusual. I think it is as fast, but I dont believe it is slower. The 7 step gearbox has to play a role. They might be faster in a straight line on an even road, but usually in film chases they tend to swerve the cars now and then?! So I bet Corvette is not at its best in that situation and might seem slow, however fast it may be in a straight line.

Juicee, these guys can't be that great of drivers if they truely thought the 63 felt faster. It just doesn't make sense. Have you ridden in a Z06? I have a pretty strong 55 and I have a hard time keeping up with the Z06 from a roll. The difference between a stock Z and a stock 63 is too great for any driver to miss.

FWIW i don't think the weight difference is that great. I know our cars are pigs but... I think the Z comes in around 3100lbs and most of the 63's I've seen posted were a little over 4000lbs?

Sounds right, that's why I said almost 1000lbs. I weighed my C5 Z06 before rollbar, other safety **** and power adders - it was 3080lbs with 3/8 tank of gas - I think the C6 Z is about the same weight as my slow old C5 Z.

Funny how a scene in a TV show turns into a debate over "how could this be"

I watched it happen , millions of others will watch it happen on ABC in Sept. The Vette was beaten , I am certain the drivers are capable. Sorry Bro but you should not assume a 63 could never beat a Z06 or a 55 or any other car. These are not tracks or perfect conditions , this is a filmed sequence, technically coordinated and likely several million invested in the results. I simply asked for opinions of the car after the scene. I would have posted whatever the guys said.

I did not stage my runs vs the Z06 it was according to you guys a "bad" driver that allowed me to beat the most terrifying sports car on the planet, LOL. Everytime a 63 bests a supposedly faster car you guys all start crying "driver error" LOL

Our cars CLS 63(C6) are likely equal and I am 100% convinced my car is superior maintaining contact to the street.

I will be filming all week in BH at night, come down and watch the XKR, THE Phantom, and many others that we have on the show. It will be fun You can tell the stunt drivers you think they are silly for the opinions they hold of the E63

Why is the opinion of a group of professional drivers on the E63 "worthless".

I thought you folks would be interested that a Network show was featuring a street chase between a Z06 and an E63? The scene was amazing . The driver of the 63 will likely buy this car based on the performance and comfort, he was truly impressed. Guess thats worthless. Would you consider the thread worthless had the show featured a 600?

I think its really cool that a network show is featuring such new and fast vehicles, Im sure the scene is amazing, and its also cool that you are connected to all of this TV hollywood etc., I dig all that stuff.... but then you throw the Juicee twist into it and how on your few runs at LACR your ET was close to a ZO6 and your testing shows different blah blah and u actually defend this stuff which throws me for a loop sometimes. Your comments have nothing to do with my car, which if u think is fast i have raced one z06 from a roll 80-140 dead even and i bet he could walk me if we went higher. A 63 is in no way any where in the performance league of a C6 zo6, unfortunately....never mind what the 1/4 data says but lets listen to two random stunt drivers

Wow i'm relatively new to MBworld but guys this isn't a dick measuring contest. It seems if someone's opinion doesn't jive with the boards, everyone trashes them. Sometimes on these boards it's hard to get any useful information with all of the strutting and crap.

You're getting a lot of neg. response and flags because in reality, it's just not true. I can't recall any posts that said a Z06 was pulled in any race but it's quite frequent to hear a 63, 55 or an M5 for that matter get pulled with regularity. Perhaps a better description of those drivers are that they're "stunt drivers" not professional drivers. I recall a youtube video recently where a heavily modded 55 got walked/spanked by a Z06 (easily). And just because you had some success with a Z06 you raced doesn't mean anything. Go to dragtimes.com and see quarter mile times for the 63 and compare it to that of bone stock Z06's.
