I was just in an accident

On my way home after work & some dumb *** in a corolla decides to take a stop sign while he's on his phone. The guy took the stop & never even saw me, i was looking right at him right before we made impact & the douche was on the fricking phone oblivious to my presence the entire time. I nailed him in the front to middle drivers side & my car just chucked his car out of the way & he landed parallel to my car. I'm fine, he was a little dazed & limping. The cops gave him a ticket for taking the stop sign. Here are some pics i took with my phone. My car looks a lot worse in person though. When the tow truck guy tried to start it, it made an awful metallic grinding sound that brought tears to my eyes. I don't think it will be able to get repaired. I take soooooo much damn care of my car, that this pisses me off beyond belief.

You really can't see his car's damage, but it was bad. His whole side panel & front wheel got completely pushed in & he couldn't open his door. I'll say one thing about the E55, it is a tank.

That sucks, but it sounds like you were not hurt. That's the important part. Good luck with the car!

The important thing is you are alright! Sorry to hear about your accident. Doesn't actually look unrepairable, but will it ever ride the same. Hope it works out for you!

Did your airbags deploy? It looks like the curtain did, but I can't tell if your steering wheel did?

Yes it deployed. Also, a big thumbs up to MB, they were on the speaker within seconds making sure i was ok. They sent the cops & an ambulance & stayed on the speaker with me the whole time.

i think it will be ok. It will be back to as good as new soon. Airbags are just a matter of replacement. the car is too valuable to not repair. Sorry to hear though I knows it's frustrating.

I feel for ya on getting the baby smashed. It sucks to take such good care of something to have a bozo come along and do that.

On the bright side, we've had a number of crashes lately and it does seem that MB put the safety into these cars. In each case, the car did its job and crumpled where it needed to. Maybe having a 4000lbs car isn't so bad after all?

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. Sorry man, but like everyone said, at least nobody was hurt.

Kinda makes my "hole in one" thread in the O.T. seem pointless.

Big to MB safety though

Like everyone else, glad you are ok. Cars(even nice/fast E55s) can be replaced.

I have to say how difficult it seems to be so open about what happened. Hopefully things will work out. I know a body shop owner in OKC that took a huge whack to the rear of his 04 E55 and the car was fixed. I inspected the job he did and was impressed. Your pics don't come close to the damage he had. Thanks for sharing this with us and I'm sure it will make us slow down some and realize what can happen. Good luck and look forward to the pics when it is fixed.

That sucks man, I know how you feel. Drivers in Miami are among the worst in the nation and you always have to drive with an assumption that any idiot around you will crash into you...

glad you're good. Hopefully your "baby" will be back in no time.

Do you subscribe to tele-aid? Or do they automatically call anyway even if you arent subscribed?

Atleast you're okay. Im sure your car will be fine, just make sure an MB place does ll the repairs.
also, i dont know if you knew but if a dealership is doing the repairs, the two of you can talk doing a trade in for another car and just walk away from the whole ordeal before repairs commence, but thats up to you.

Very sorry to hear about the accident, unfortunately Miami is full of people that should not have been issued a drivers license. It's not my car but I really feel your pain.
