4lb battery?!?!?!?!

Has anyone tried a voltphreaks battery? http://www.voltphreaks.com/home.html

I currently have an odyssey battery but they claim they have a 4lb battery that will work with an M3 (waiting for the response for a benz). That would be incredible weight saving! Hopefully they dont die within a week. Anybody use them before?

looks like in the testing the 4lb wouldnt consistently crank the m3 but their 6.5lb one did, kinda pricey for a battery 675.00 but the weight savings is nice......
edit: i read incorrectly, the 4.5lb battery did work in the M3....

um just something for thought, i recall there was a recall on the battries a while back on benz battries on some models. What was wrong i do not remeber.

Also not that MBs have alot of gizmos and might require more juice then you might think. Is this battry you are affter able to provide it to these techno cars?

If all is good then grats on the find

Isn't it just a motorcycle battery? That's an old trick.

Tony from Voltphreaks.com here. Actually the 4lb one works fine for the M3 (works with the M5 too!). The 3lb one works for most cars, but not the ones with big engines. The 4lb one works for basically all cars, the 6.5lb one is for people who want more cranking power.

I have been using the Odessey 925 battery for several years and it works great and weighs 21 lbs(?) or maybe its 26 lbs. But at least half the stock battery wt.

I would so love to try the 6.5lb battery in my car... Lithium's are so great. They can sit for long periods & hold their charge. Which is exactly what I need. I do keep a battery tender on the car, but the car sits for up to a Month at a time.

2 questions... Does anyone have an accurate weight for the trunk battery?

And 2) The MB electronics go haywire if they don't like the battery, and are particularly sensitive... Does anyone have any expierience with one of these on a fully loaded MB?

Thanks,

RoydRage

I have the 925 Odessy battery too. Its like 25 lbs. I had the 14 lb 625 odessy but it died within 1 week but worked like a champ on an old S4. Every now and then with the 925 I get "electronic consumers are disabled" and the A/C goes off, seats will not move, etc. Usually takes 2-5 minutes before it goes back on but only happens 1x/month.
