new member with some questions
Hi guys! I am coming out of a cts-v and will be getting an e-55 shortly. I am interested in any white car here for sale (would consider silver) and would prefer a panorama roof. Some minor work done already will work as well and year could be 2003-2005. Input on the roof would be appreciated as far problems and weight difference etc.
I have one question as to the weight of these cars. What is it please?
Thanks for the info. and I'll be chatting a lot to learn what I can and thanks again in advance!

I think most are around the 4100lbs mark. Some a few lbs less some more. It all depends on the optionss. The pano car a little heavier from what i've seen. Good luck with your search. I may know a guy with a Silver pano car that might sell.

There are a few Silver here that are for sale.
White is harder to come by.
The roof adds a tad of weight, but i forgot the amount. It is one of those things that you love or hate.
Get an '05 or newer.

Why '05 or newer? I have a friend with an '05 off lease in Feb. but he may get out of it in Oct. White car, pano roof 25k miles and buy is only $49k as of August 12th. He is extending it for few so whatever comes off by the time he is ready to bail will be the dif. but it seems that the price is right. It has all options including the seats. DJ's car sounds interesting though! The '04 silver modded car.

The '05 is when the CLS came out and from there the suspension parts started to trickle into the E. The '05 E has a a 10% tighter steering rack and better front shocks. The '06 got the newer rear shocks and new control arms.
If handling means anything to you, get the newer ones. If not, it doesn't matter. The power was solid from '03 on.

Handling means very little to me and I am going to consider the '04 silver car from DJE55 with the mods done already. One question I do have:
What are the plus and minus of the pano roof?

If all you care about is power and options, then yes the '04 is also a nice option. Jrocket on this board also has one with mods that he is trying to sell to get one in white.
My take on the pano. Keep in mind that I do not like it, so this is as bad as it gets. Potential issues (almost all will eventually do it) are a creeking noise as the body flexes. MB will repair it as long as warranty is in place, but it will come back. As far as having an effect on your performance, I'd say minimal at best. You seem to want to drag it and light to light, the roof is not a factor. laying down 500/500 is. Last thing that I do not like about the roof is that the "visor" part must either be open or closed. You have no other choice. Good thing is, if you get an '04, get one that has the solar panels. They are little fans that keep the air circulating on a hot day.
As far as my must have options:
Active and Ventilated seats
Keyless Go
Nav
Sattelite (if you like Sirius)
Xenons
Distronic
Nice to haves:
Rear sun shades on the doors
Distronic
phone (actually, just bluetooth)

To me the panaromic roof is a must have, lol. It's just such a unique item adding a big cool factor to our car. It looks amazing from within and also externally.
Looking at the car always bring me a smile but while inside the car, the panaromic roof always brings me a smile every time. So definitely get it.

Several MB's Superperformance MK III Cobra
My wife's White E55 has the pano roof and it looks fabulous both from the outside and the inside. As far as the weight, it weighs 88 pounds more than a non pano car.
