I've gotten the Twin Turbo bug pretty bad .... LOL.. It's so bad that I just want to turbocharge everything I can get my hands on... LOL...

The heads development for the 55 went so well, that I've been giving the machine shop more and more to work on.. Aside from the MB stuff, they are doing some R&D for my 993, AND, this new FUN project that I started last week. This is going to be really DIFFERENT.

I am really excited about this latest project, so I thought I would share it with you guys...

It all started last week when I came across this spare motor... I couldnt pass up the opportunity. I am going to convert the bottom end to a complete forged setup (new pistons, rods, sleeves). We are keeping the stock crank. The heads will be ported of course. For valves, we are going to make some Inconel exhaust valves, and the intake valves will be custom made also.

The end result will be a Twin Turbo V8 hopefully pumping out 700hp++... It will be running a standalone Motec system.

Now, rather than just tell you what it is, let's see how good some of you guys are with engines.. Who can figure out what car owns this engine??

Five valves per cylinder is the one thing that really stands out to me. The only manufacturers I know with that kind of head are Ferrari and Audi, and I think only Ferrari does them with a V8..... or is the RS4 five valve?? (just thinking out loud.... I'm really not sure)

Ferrari was the first choice, but then I got to thinking hmmmmmm Twin Turbo??? and the F40 only had 4 valves so my next guess was the Audi RS6 Aluminum block 5 valves per cylinder roller valve train........ oh well

It's a Ferrari 360 motor. What gave it away Vadim??

Heads are being ported.. We are waiting for the pistons to come in.. I am making 2 sets.. 1 piston will be N/A and 1 will be for a F/I setup.

The rods were determined to be of excellent quality with no room for improvement so we left those alone.

I'll post some progress pics once the heads get done.

As for E55 TT project... It's being worked on.

And the million dollar question is, what CAR is this going to be in?! The logical idea seems to be a Ferrari (presumably 355/360) but apparently, you never know with Victor. Care to clue us in?

Forgive my ignorance - but why don't the pistons look circular? They appear hexagonal but the cylinder liners/bore/jackets look round. How can that be?

It looks like carbon deposits highlighting the dished valve relief area in the pistons.

Its an optical illusion. The pistons are circular.. but, what you are seeing is walls around the piston that protrude UP.

The inner portion of the piston is recessed and has a hexagonal shape created by the outer formation of the raised walls.

When I go back to take progress pics I'll take some shots of the piston itself so you can see it better.
