I own both cars... NEGATIVE. Though you can put the E55's on the SL55.

I have both and I have put the SL55 18 inch AMG's onto the E55 before for a test fit. I was looking at a set of take off SL55 wheels for an upgrade on the E55 (never liked the split spoke design) and I wanted to check before I went for the deal.

The fit just fine and they ALMOST were perfect except there was a SLIGHT bit of rubbing in the rear oh the very top of the fender lip. If I had wanted to roll the fenders a SLIGHT bit they would have fit.

The 285 tire was a bit to large for the ET 33 off-set. To make the 285 fit with no fender rolling you need to be closer to a 36-38 ET.

The fronts fit without any problem and they never had any sort of rubbing even with the larger 255 front tires.

If the wheels are the 2007 and on 19 inch wheels, they are tricky to fit as well but some say they will work with smaller tires. I know for sure the 18inch wheels on the SL55 will work fine with smaller tires as AMG lists that as a n application for that wheel. Just needs the 245/265 tire sizing to be MB approved.

The new 19's have a more aggressive off-set so they are harder to fit but AMG does make that same wheel with a more conservative off-set and those are made to fit the W211.

You can run 295s, if you shave 4mm from the SL rears.

I used the lugs that came off the SL on the E55. I put the E55 wheels on the SL and left it sitting in the garage while I drove the E around for a few days. The car seemed 100% fine until i took the wheels off to swap back to normal and I saw the slightest little black mark on the very end of the fender lip. I never heard it rub but the black marks were tell tale sighs of rubbing.

I have photos of the car with those wheels if you are interested. I can post them when i get home or you can search for them as I put them up a while back. Most people said the car looked bad etc but I liked the simple clean style of the 18 inch style III AMG wheel.

Is that right...

I'm running SL65 rims with 285 stock SL rubber and I'm sure they are rubbing on the outside. My car is lowered by ELM (setting 7 in the rear) but I have ride height problems on one side which the dealer is working on now.

I assume you're talking about shaving the inside hub to make the wheel sit further in?? are you increasing or decreasing offset? Sorry to sound dumb but I still don't have a handle on this yet. Do you know someone who has modded the wheel to fit 295s?

You're talking about 18" aren't you?

I have it on my car. Yes, the inner part of the wheel. You are adding et, from 33 to about 37. They will be barely rub with 285s without it. Shaved, 295s will fit fine. I run RennTech ELM at lowest and I throw my car. Oh, yeah...I am talking 18s.
