My E55 vs 335i....

Met up with a 335i coupe 6 speed this evening, he has a custom AA tune with full exhaust from the turbo's back, no cats..... I think he said he was running 15psi, his car was strong, we ran about 8 times, from a dig or roll to about 130MPH I had about 4 cars on him...... stock E55's might need to be careful with these modded 335's.....

Absolutely, have heard that these are pesky *****es. It's a weight issue. The e should smoke it though in a shorter race.

Hmmm...could that be Rflow?...I know he has a 335 and is always at AA getting it tuned...Let's see if he chimes in.

Those 335s are putting out about what BMW says they make at the crank to the wheels, so about 350hp, 355 tq, around there. Def. need to be careful if its modded, cause there's a chip for it that a lot of these guys are getting (cant remember who makes it) that adds 50-60 flywheel.

I just picked up a 335 6spd manual sedan it is a FUN car! Feels very light and nimble and ya tons of torque for a 3.0l.

Here is a recent run with a E60 M5 (modded) vs a PROcede 335 (JMoney on e90post):

335 vs 2 modded E60 m5's
1st gear roll from 20-125ish
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcgCXTNnowk

335 vs Modded E60 m5
2nd gear roll from 40-155 ( 335 hits govoner )
http://youtube.com/watch?v=F5CNbn84TZ0

The 335 is really starting to evolve into a mini beast. Can't wait to start modding mine.

I have run with a Steptronic 335i coupe with similar level of mods as above and also with a stock M5. Both cars seemed just as fast in the 1st 3 gears. Didn't get to try higher speeds but I presume the M5 will start to pull away steadily. On the streets you really have to be careful when you meet a 335 or risk being left with a red face.

Twin turbo engines are just so sweet. I love the power delivery and the tuneability. There is no belt squeak, no belt slip, and the power delivery is just awesome.

The twin-turbo E class is going to be a blast. I hope that the M goes with a TT system so it will force AMG to release their beast early. The power wars are so much fun!!!!

L8Apex, what mods do you think of putting?

I've been monitoring bimmerforums to gauge reliability of mods:
xCEDE, PROCEDE, turbo tuner & Juice Box.

Hope to pull a trigger soon....

that is a fully modded 335 at this point.

He might have the AA IC core as well, since he has the custom AA tune. Right now AA is testing a update for their current product, which should add more boost.

He is probably running 370+RWHP and about 400+RWTQ very easily..

those numbers are very similar to stock E55's, but for some reason or another most of the modded 335's are not trapping very good on a 1/4 track. Most tuned 335's are 109 to 108 with a few 110 and sole 112 in S. Africa.

I'm willing to say that the 335i you ran is probably one of the strongest 335's out there.

Procede v2's are finally out.. so the combination for the most power would be.

Procede v2 or AA update XEDE, Dp, no cats, free flowing mufflers, AA IC core and custom intake, this will make 400+RWHP easily and 400+RWTQ and the best part you can set you boost settings with the Procede V2 .

I'm really impressed with this car and I read the bimmer forums every day.

However I hate to be without warranty and reliability questions are still looming.

I'm debating on a C63 or tuned 335.. (which is a compliment to the 335)

I agree, this is probably one of the quickest 335i's out there right now. I'm guessing he would trap 114 MPH against my 119 MPH.... from 20-90 MPH he hung in pretty well, after that I would pulling away pretty hard..... I hope they do some more mods for the 335, I want to see them challenge the M5's....

as for the C63 vs 335i, I would do the C63 anyday.... If they don't do something with the E AMG's by the time my E55 is out of warranty I'll go for the C63, hopefully it's just matter of ECU tuning to get 500+ HP from it.... A late model CPO CL65 would do as well...

I really like the C63 but I will wait to see if they can really tune the "detuned" 6.2 and get those extra ponies back.

BTW, The tuning potential for the upcoming Nissan GTR is going to be CRAZY. I am not sure if I can go the ricer route though.....

Why wouldn't you be able to?

"A smaller air intake box and less aggressive injection, ignition, and throttle mapping keeps horsepower lower than our higher-end offerings but higher than our competition. For example, this car has 50 percent more torque than an M3 [443 lb-ft], and that's without stressing it." Take note, Eurotuners: the S63's 525 hp is just a few tweaks away.

I was just going to post the same info.

probably can use E63 or CL63 air boxes and probably copy the ECU maps on those cars and flash those settings to the C63.

probably not that simple, but it won't take much.

I'm not big on piggybacks (PROcede, Exede) or resistors (SSTT, Juicebox). Waiting for a flash ecu to come out. I hear Hartge and Dinan will have one in the US by next month. Should be fun. The only downside to the 335 is the small turbos. They simply cant' flow enough air over 6k rpms. As soon as someone makes a exhaust manifold for a larger twin turbo setup, I will be all over it. I will only run a max of 15 psi, even with the new turbos. The compression ratio is just to high for my liking with 91 octane.

Stay Tuned!!

i too was debating on getting a 335 and modding the hell out of it or just get the C63.

the more i read and see pics of the C63, i think i'll be getting the C63.

it doesn't hurt that i'm on the waiting list for the C63

before I got my 04 e55 I ran a couple of stock 335i in a clk500 convertible and I was not impressed. I also had a 450WHP on pump gas evo 8 that I killed many a car with before it got killed by a red light runner. I have to say the e55's power reminds me a lot of my evo and there is so much potential with an e55 I could not see my self getting a 335i with an aluminum block. The e63 is a great car too but, horse power is all show and torque is all go.
