You can get the OEM plugs from the dealership for a couple bucks, but Im not sure where to get the magnetic plugs at, I assume they seal fine since it appears Grafh is using them?
On a side note, using the sensor to check the level I've noticed that after every oil change I've done it reads between 7-7.7 quarts. I always drain both sumps and replace the filter and re-fill with 8.5 quarts. Is it typical for the sensor to show a lower amount, despite having filled it up?

Yeah they are re-usable and seal fine. I use the crush washer style of gasket instead of the factory copper one. I get them from mitsubishi. They are like the ones that come on spark plugs. You have to use new ones every time. Here is where I bought the drain plugs >> http://www.sardracing.com/index.htm

Here is a better link >> http://www.sard.co.jp/after_eng/prod...oilfilter.html
Btw, the plug with the most iron on it was from the rear sump.

Honestly I don't remember. It was one of the m14 x 1.5 plugs.

I would actually like to know the differences between the 3 myself.

These should work just as well: http://getnrg.com/products/under-hoo...oil-drain-plug
I'd still like to know where you get the crush washers from though.

Maybe I should order some Titanium 14mmx1.5 Oil plugs with Unicorn Horn crush washers eh?
Considering Japan imports pretty much all of it's aluminum from China, it has the be the manufacturing process you're so concerned about. Would that be correct? Are the NRG's just "ricey" to you? I'm seriously wondering, because you seem pretty staunch with your reply to my suggestion. To me it's a 1.5" long bolt made of the same material as the pan, so as long as the threads are spec'd, there's no difference, minus the "SARD" tax, which is just like when the dealership wants 30 dollars for an OEM filter that you can get the exact same thing for 10.00. What makes SARD so fancy? Their racing heritage? They make these bolts in house? I'm not being sarcastic. I'm actually curious as to what justifies this being THE oil pan bolt, because the price they charge definitely comes across as being "the best"

Thread resurrection! My query is for the W210 E55 AMG since I couldn't find a similar thread in that section.
After going through this thread, I'm tempted to buy a few for my car, however, does anyone know if the OEM/stock plug is already magnetic?

Remember one thing, having the adequate amount of engine oil is critical to avoid engine damage, as oil is the life’s blood on your engine.

New owner
Hi guys I am now the proud owner of a CLS55 AMG
my question is this,my mechanic has told me I don't need to use Mobil 1 for its oil change and that I can use a pattern copy oil??..just wondered what you guys use and your thoughts on this issue??

I do recommend using Liqui Moly Cera Tec additive. I use this in all three of my vehicles. I do know of some AMG owners that use Motul. But the choice is yours.

(Or the succsessor) every 10-15.000km
and Mann-Filter HU 718/5 x
Motul 300V 5W50
RedLine 5W50 looks good
Royal Purple XPR 5W50 (if this wouldn‘t cost ~ 40,- € in germany instead 18,- $ I‘d buy it immediatly)
best regards
