W211 E55 AMG
I can confirm that there are error messages

NGS_E55: I bought two of these (9006 type) kits from James. One for the Acura and the other for my E55. The kits were plug and play on the Acura and worked perfectly. No flicker...very clean and bright. I installed the first kit on the Acura first to get "practice." The install is really very simple and only required four connectors. The whole install took me an hour max only because I wanted to do it correctly with all of the wiring harness tucked, tie-wrapped and out of the way of moving parts and electrical interferences such as ABS systems.

Once I got the practice from the Acura and confirming my correct installation, I proceeded to install the second kit on the E55. Again, the install was very simple and required no cutting or splicing. But with the E55's smarts (or call it dumbness) in checking for a burned out light bulb condition coupled with the reduced wattage requirements of the HID kit, the E55 cuts the power from the fog lights.

Their site quotes: "Fully digital, draws less than 6 amps at startup and contains circuitry to prevent modern cars from setting a bulb-out warning message so you can be assured of full compatibility with any car, even with the thinnest wiring."

Obviously, the circuitry that prevents the setting of the bulb-out warning message didn't work. The stock setup is: 12V, 55W, 4.58 amps at roughly 2.61818 ohms. Asumming this is a typical 35 watt HID kit, it will most likely be drawing approximately 2.91 amps. If it detects a lower than spec'd amps, it may be what trips the E55 to turn the fog circuit power off. If someone knows the answer to this, please confirm.

Adam at EuroElites has my car for the week. Otherwise, I would have posted pics. I received both left and right fog bulb-out error messages.

I've left a voicemail for James this morning but have not heard back as of yet. I'm sure he will do the right thing.

Just an update:

As I anticipated, James is going to fix the issue. Big props to James for responding to my queries tonight despite of what he is having to personally deal with regarding the major fire in San Diego.

James - I hope you, your family and your business makes it through the fires unscathed.

I'll give you all more updates when I get my car back from Adam on Friday.

Got the car back from Adam yesterday and had a chance to fix the problem with the fog lights last night. James stated that the E55 supplies a -12V source to the fogs. To fix the problem, I just needed to reverse the wires on the supplied harness that connects to the factory 9006 connector. All is well. No errors or flicker. I'll post pics later when it's darker out. Quality stuff so far. The 6000K is a touch more purplish/bluish than the stock HIDs. Just a tad. It looks really good and far from looking like a ricer. It is also much much brighter than the stock halogen fogs.

I did notice that the power supply to my fog lights was reversed (brown +) in a short 6" plug to plug extension.I discovered this when I taped a 12V feed for my beast eyes. Glad you got yours working (I ordered mine 2 days ago).

How about a little Light-beasteyes.jpg

The before HID, this is what 9006 silverstars look like.
BTY my city lights are from Pep Boys too. I tried all the others easily spent $35 for all the possible whitest lights, and still the Pep Boys "hyper white" bulbs were the whitest.

As James said, it's plug and play quality kits...as long as you know the source wires should be reversed. The 8000K is a bit too purplish compared to the stock HIDs. IMHO 6000K is a better match.

Albert,

It was a pleasure working through this issue with you, I'm glad to see that all is well. Post some pics up when you get a chance.

Here are some lousy (I mean really lousy) pics

James - Here are some lousy pics taken using my phone. Aside from my camera (or is it the loose nut behind the camera ) malfunctioning, the last picture shows no malfunctions on the dash.

Glad you got your bulbs. That doesn't make a "first rate" shop. Wait until something goes wrong and see how they respond. All is well when the ball rolls straight, you padaywan

12000k for the fogs? or headlamps?

If you want the 12000k for the fogs, you'll need to purchase a 12000k HID kit for the fog's. the kit includes ballast and bulb color temp of choice.

Hey Jason, with the CADesigns 1157 ghost amber Blink bulbs there is no problem with them working? I just tried to install LED 1157 bulbs and they wouldn't work at all? Are these LED turn sigs or just regular bulbs with a silver coating on them?

Thanks

Jangy - Did you mean "padawan"?

A young Jedi that undergoes intensive one-on-one training under a Jedi Knight or Jedi Master after graduating from the academy. As tradition a padawan of any species with hair grows a long strand of braided hair that is finally cut off during the ceremony of knighthood, when a Padawan becomes a Jedi Knight. A Jedi may have only one apprentice at a time, and is required to promote the current apprentice before taking another. However, this idea was scrapped in a way by Luke Skywalker due to the severe shortage in actual Jedi, as mentioned in Star Wars: Jedi Academy. Padawan is the name of a small town in Sarawak, Malaysia.

If you're going to call me names, please get it right.

Owners: compliments to James at Creative Autoworks! The HID conversion enigma is SOLVED!
Motorwerks here in MI installed mine today and no error codes and they look great at 5000K.
Now, some wizard has to figure out how to hack the headlite switch so we can use the foglites in Auto lamp mode-Engineers?? Anyone? Joker
