What should I have my rear tire presure at? I have new PS2 rears. I think they should be at 25lbs. I run them at 26lbs cold and they get up to 29lbs when warm. Again I am looking for striaght line drag racing grip. The rears will not hook with these tires. Do they like a good smokey burn out first? Hard to do on the street?
Hard to test because car will shred the tire at any air presure.
I know the real answer is Quaife LSD and BFG Drag Radials. Proven package for lower et's.

How many miles do you have on the tires???????
BRAND NEW in 245 front and 275 rear 18's brand brand new tires, you should have amazing grip?
If your tires have 10k miles on it and u drive it hard u might need a new set.
the mbz 55k engines burn up the tires in these cars cause of all the tq.
IF you never really get ur tires to squeel but if u go wot with traction it does the same thing, the tire gets used up alot due to the high amount of tq in this monster.

Also, whats your alignment like? Whens the last time u have had an alignment. If you have alot of miles perhaps ur rear and front are out of spec, causing you to hook up much later

I would experiment with different tire pressure combos as each tire, surface, and rim type will need different pressure. Watch your burnouts to see how even the tread contact patch is.
Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be here to help.
Sincerely,
Aaron

Try 32psi cold. This will keep as much patch on the asphalt as possible, especially when the cars throws the weight to the rear (comfort setting).
Stay out of the water box when you roll up as water will accumulate in the tread and run down to the contact patch when you line up. Just a bit is enough to lite them.
Lastly, burn those PS2's up as they need lots of temp to stick, not so much as to ball up the rubber.
Good luck.

If they are BRAND new, the mold release is not helping. A couple of hundred miles should wear that off.
I was able to cut 1.80 60' with 36 PSI in the rear, but seem to hook better around 30-32.
I heat them just enough to pull a bit of rubber up off of the track.
