I have 2 of them infact and omg do they fly out of the hole!!!!
I was shocked to say the least first dude i raced had at least 3 cars on me from the traffic light, but i pulled hard on him on third and passed him.
Did a U turn and he followed and did a rolling start from 40kph hanged for a bit then pulled on him strongly.
Then he told me to race his other friend who was next to us from 0.
And omg again that thing just shoots off! fastest thing i have seen so far from a dig out of all the cars i have raced!
so we stoped and were chating and he said yeah i rev her a bit then let her rip, what do you rev her till?... i responded with... um i can not get traction as it is let alone rev her![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Must say i have some respect for that car now as I have raced two chrysler c300 srt8 and the jeep is on an other level compared to them!
any one else have any experiecne with these?

I had an '07 and absolutely loved it. It was violently fast off the line, bone stock. The gearing and AWD make it a stoplight to stoplight monster, but the flying brick starts to hit the wall earlier than the other SRT-8s (Magnum/Charger/300). It crushed the 5.7 Hemi Magnum that I had too, and I thought that was fairly quick.
It might get a (very) slight jump on my S off the line, but there's no comparing the visceral nature of the SRT 6.1 Hemi to the smoothness of my AMG. Where the Jeep started to peak out (120 +/-) the AMG is just effortless...
I was thinking about getting another one, but I got bit by the MB-AMG bug hard and a G-wagen or ML63 might be in the future...

Yeah, it was me. I was on some backroads and this ML comes up behind me. It was silver with yellowish lights. we played a little and then got onto an open 4 lane road that had a right turn onto the onramp of the highway. I pulled on him during the street part, but there was a car in front of me and the ML stayed close enough to not let me pass accross him. He passed me and I got in behind him. Mind you, we are at about 140 on back roads by now and this ******* is pretty stable in the slight turns. So, we get to the place where you take a right turn to get onto the on ramp. It is a two lane ramp, so I wanted to hit the turn hard and make a run at him before we got onto the highway. I take the right pretty hard (as did he). His went solid right through. The turn is slightly negatively banked and that was my downfall. I hit the apex and the rear end came out. The car went into a nice spin. By the time I caught it and got going straight again, he had made up a good 10 lengths. I made most of it back up by about 140, but he was ready to roll and traffic got heavy, so I exited at my house.
In the end, I lost to a 63 and an ML, no less.

interesting, doesnt a member here called blue somthing have an ML 63?
I did not know it was 4wd.
Any one done some testing on dig races with that thing?
it did prety well on the last m5 air field challlange if i recall.
This is now making me think of what russ said, about the CLS 55 that was converted to 4matic (by MKB i think) killing everything from a dig

420 HP/420 Torque
4800 pounds (little chunky)
0-60, low 4's
1/4, low 13s, couple of guys have busted in the 12s bone stock
electronically limited to 155
AWD and gearing and the key to it's low end performance and quickness.
Tuning options are extremely limited. There's a couple of f/i (turbo and S/C) running around, NOS isn't completely uncommon, and a couple of guys have gone the cams/heads/header route, but getting the fuel/air-tuning right has been a huge hassle. The Predator just came out with some canned tunes and more options are going to be available soon (looks like SCT will get in the game, and they're my personally handheld tuner favorite, and NOT to be confused with Superchips, two totally different companies).
0-80, stoplight to stoplight and up to 1/8th it will run with almost anything on the road. Even if something can pull on it, it won't be by much. AWD, floor and go, no skill needed!
Awesome ride, loved it!

IVE DRIVEN ALOT OF THE SRT-8's especially the grand cherokees being in the car business. They are obviously very quick but when it comes to everyday driving or just driving at all the suspension is rediciously stiff (to the point where it isnt confortable). It also doesnt feel as stable as you would think with the 20" wheels and AWD as far as tight turns and sharp movements. I ran many of my friends who have them and my car is slighty rennteched but they did not worry me a bit. yes off the line they will certainly suprise the **** out of you but from a rolling start or anything over 20-30mph you will leave them in the dust. I was gonna buy one for my wife cause for the money its alot of truck but settled with the range rover.

I smoked one last month on I-65 between Chicago and Indianapolis. I-65 is a two lane straight (for the most part) highway with 70MPH limit. He came up from behind and flashed his lights for me to move out of his way. I was already doing about 75-80. Needless to say, that was the last I saw of him!

Test drove one 2 weeks ago, and yes, very quick off the line. It didn't seem to be too stiff to me, just not nearly as floaty as a regular GC. I hated the e-brake lever right next to my right knee. If not for the adjustable pedals (very cool), there's no way I could live with one. Not bad, but not sure it's worth 45-48K. It's a Jeep, and every one I had was no more reliable than a MB.
The SRT8 is not designed to go off road at all either and has almost no towing ability. I'm not even sure how you'd put a hitch on it with the center mounted exhaust.

Back on topic, good posts/points...
What I didn't like it about was already brought up; the ride. But it wasn't the suspension which a lot of people attribute it to, it was the run-flat tires. They have an extremely stiff side wall and are very susceptible to bump steer and can really rattle your fillings on a gnarly road. Most guys change them out and it's one of the most popular "mods" (if you wanna call it that) but there's no spare tire (hence the run-flats) so you need a kit, or AAA or...
Tow capacity? Didn't buy it for that, but Jeep didn't make any friends saying it had a tow capacity of 3500, but no Mopar hitch to go with it (it should be available soon). I couldn't imagine towing with it anyway, but there are towing solutions that are about as ugly as homemade soup with the center mounted exhaust complicating the process.
It's the only Jeep that's not trail rated. I wouldn't go down much more than a dirt road with it, that's not what it was built for. The s/c'd Range Rover has got it beat, badly, in that category, but no where else, at least when I was looking at them...
It's short legs will get you in trouble though, especially if you think it can run at speed the way it does off the line. I know that my S would stomp a mud hole in its chest from 80 up, all day.
$ for $ it's ridiculous. It will crush a standard Cayenne on the street, and stay right with the Turbo. I forgot to mention in my previous post, but it will pull high .8 almost a .9 on the skidpad, so the handling is right up there...
