Hi all-

I'm new to Merc ownership having moved over from BMW two months ago when I bought my 05 E55 AMG. I have a lot of questions that I'll be asking over time but my first one is, why is the 05 E55 rated at 469HP and the SL55 with the same engine rated at 493HP? How can I get to 493-500HP?

First of all, how can you live in a town that has "Man ***" in its name? Please move as soon as possible.

Secondly, in order to get 493-500HP from your new E55 (congrats!!) you need to do nothing more then stomp the gas. The hp is there................... Mercedes underrated the power of this car all in the name of marketing.

Finally, please refrain from asking anymore questions until you relocate or you create a new hometown name.

Sorry but...

Anyways, in answer to your question, they've either underrated it like Rock said or they installed a smaller throttle body so less air can get through causing a slightly bit less power.

Either way, it's most likely there if you want 500 hp. Or just get a larger TB.

Don't be concerned about these comedians. It might be advisable to post up some pics of your new ride, bro. Then start asking some serious questions. Get a nice avatar with some partial nudity then you will be accepted here.

Great question and one that I ponder daily. If you've read about the Civil War you'll understand the importance of Manassas in US history. It was the site of the first and second major battles between the North and South and its within a three hour driving radius of most of the northern battlefields. In fact, it's where Stonewall Jackson earned his nickname during the "first battle of Bull Run". So I guess I live in a town where a MAN can view a lot of historic *** and watch a BULL RUN at the same time. What a great country! Actually, if you like northern VA (and I do after relocating from SoCal) its a great place to live. I'll post some pictures very soon. Thanks for your reply.
