engine....I have read that a new Corvette and a possible new flagship aston martin could touch 700 at the crank without forced induction...

Does the new "63" motor in the benzes have that potential with a "stroker" kit...?

surely this is FAR too much...?

If the 1991 BMW engine in the McLaren F1 (over 15 years old technology) can produce 620 hp without forced induction, then I'm sure another 80 hp is very do-able..... Maybe even 750.....

No you will never see an N/A 700hp 63 car. However, the 55s could make that kind of power.

We made a 750hp naturally aspirated Viper that ran on 91 Octane and had catalytic coverters (passed CA emissions) for Car and Driver mag. Granted it wasn't easy, and did require stroking a stock engine. The torque and powerband was crazy. We made over 600rwtq from 2800-6000rpms if my memory serves me correctly. Very smooth power delivery. It hooked up in second gear all day long.

Putting 700HP against the MB 7-speed would basically turn the transmission into mess of strings in about 1 minute depending on how much torque (assuming around 700).

No way the 63 could make > 100 hp/liter NA. Maybe a high reving V8... M3/M5 do... but they'd still need to be nearly 7 liters...Tuned version of the M5 with an extra cylinder on each bank could probably do it. Thats a very different beast than the 63 engine though. I wonder how much the W16 sans turbos (from the Veyron) would make... probably somewhere around 700.

Hey there SilverArrow:

yes you can get OVER 700 hp from a N/A engine. Take a look at NASCAR, SCCA, etc, which use a 355 cubic inch, or about 6.0 liters and they routinely make OVER 800HP from a N/A motor.

On the street, with reliability, I HIGHLY QUESTION THIS

I doubt it would last very long day to day driveing, and of cousre as others have said, the tranny porbably wouldn't last a week. Keep in mind that to get these numbers, the RPM'S also climg GREATLY, and again reliability suffers. IE NO FREE LUNCH

See yeah
