Surprisingly, the E55 gets walked!
Comments? Anyone here want to speculate what's going on? Or is M5board once again staging and bull****ting their vids? Video evidence right here...

Here's the deal: My dad has both a 2003 SL55 AMG and a 2006 BMW M5 with SMGIII. Now the question is, since my dad NEVER pushes both vehicles to their limits

But what we're presented with is a 335i with only an exhaust and a tune. Thats it...no T88 turbo swap lol

This is what I wrote in the other thread. In real life Goustafa's races have ZERO significance, because no race can start at 50km/hr in any US or Euro highway.
The major problem with races Gustav is holding is that they always start at 50km/hr, which does not represent anything in real life!
It is not doable in real life.
In US in no highway you can start a race at 50km/hr which is about 31 ml/hr.
In all due respect his races are happening in fantasy worlds, that is why when people film real life experiences they are so much more different than Gustafo's movies.
Why doesn't he start the races at 80km/hr - 50ml/hr for example? Or 30km/hr -- 20ml/hr
Because he knows the outcomes will be so much more different than his setup races that always start at his own term speeds.
IF HE HAS THE GUTS to face the real world,
I call on him,
If he is the man he claims to be
I call on him,
to start the races in at least two different speeds, one at 50km/hr the other at 80km/hr and post both videos and compare it through that. For highway speeds 80km/hr is much more realistic than starting a race at 50km/hr which can never ever happen in any highway in the USA or the Europe for that matter!

In California Speedway on 10/26/2007, a modified 335 ran a best time of 12.44 and averaged 12.6x throughout the day while the stock E55 ran a best of 12.9x and averaged 13.0x and the stock E63 ran a best of 12.72 and averaged 12.9x. Temperature was around 91 F and DA was close to 3100 ft.
The owner of the 335 said he had ECU + exhaust as well. So I think it is possible for a modified 335 to take down a stock E55 but if you want a fair comparison, try a modified E55 vs modified 335. The Stage 1/2 E55 at the same event were all running 11.7 to 11.8 at 118 mph all day long, and that's only the beginning..........

Well I had my E55 for 5 days now and I can safely say, the reason that E55 got beat is because it didn't kickdown, or the guy did not use tiptronic (was not in a proper gear)... My car fishtails when I floor it from 50 km/h with ESP off
But sometimes it doesn't downshift and the result is a not so fast acceleration. With all that torque, we would have seen the front of the car jump and buck. A Stupid video in my opinion. ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
BTW E55 is the best car I have ever owned and driven, and I'm saying that after driving an 06 M5 for a year and a half.

These things only have 300 crank HP stock. An ECU tune and exhaust is going to add how many HP? Maybe 50 or 60 with a significant increase in boost also. This is still only 360 crank HP on a 3600 lb plus vehicle. I don't think that would be enough for a 12.44 time. Maybe he was running 20 plus pounds of boost. His motor won't last long. What was his trap?
Again, I'm not saying these things can't be made fast, but its going to take more than an ECU tune and exhaust upgrade for those kind of times.

My understanding was that the 335 is significantly under-rated by BMW. Most of the people that posted dyno graphs on the M5 boards say that the car dynos at 285 to 295 whp as 100% stock
![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Again, all I'm saying is that it is not so far fetched for these cars (heavily modified) to walk stock E55s as was the case on 10/26/2007 drag event, but like you said there is a definate reliability issues and an inheret risk when modding to the extreme.....

I can't remember what the trap speed was, maybe Juicee or JRocket can chime in here as they looked at it more closely ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

Also, I heard a stage 2 ECU + exhaust + intake can give you up to 90 whp, which should put the car to around 380 to the wheels. So now you have two cars with almost same hp but one weights 500 lbs less.

everything I agree.
but there were a few modded 335i's on your event or the day later.
The one running the strongest ran a 112 trap speeds and had
this car had JBS2 (piggy back), race gas, DRAGs and Down Pipes and another minor mod...
there was another Piggy back only 335 with race gas and DR's and trapped 109.
Race Gas and DR's are really helping out the biturbo tuning.
recently we had another 335 trap 113, with DME Tune, FMIC, Street Tires with OZ rims... (not stock tires or rims)
if you see a modded 335 with DRs driving around town.. look out!

Heres a one year update on the 335 tuning.Stock down pipes, stock turbos, stock intake, stock intercoolers with cats.
This is just with 98 oct and a cat back exh.I wonder what it would do with 104 oct that we have here and some bigger down pipes with no cats?
![](http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd280/shivatvishnu/413STD.jpg)
The torque humps can be flattened out and wernt even at 100%they were at 80-85 from what Shiv was saying,He thinks they can squeeze out 470flbs to the wheels with the stock turbos once he finishes up this map,he has also started to tweak the vanos timing aswell now.
