Anyone here driven a BMW M5 E60 against a SL55 AMG?

Hello everybody! This is my first time posting here after I've been observing you from the sidelines. (Go ahead and call me a troll for the first post)

Here's the deal: My dad has both a 2003 SL55 AMG and a 2006 BMW M5 with SMGIII. Now the question is, since my dad NEVER pushes both vehicles to their limits (He just drives them regularly like any regular cars), which car above is faster in terms of straight line, 1/4 mile, track etc.

I've used the search feature and there's not much to find or read. As you can probably assume, I like speed and am a speed freak for fast cars

I know both the statistics on both their performances but I wanna hear what YOU ALL have to say on this subject and what you all have to think personally to me. Better to hear your responses and your experiences than look at statistics...

Thank you for your cooperation

There is a lot of information on this. Search for M5 against E55, keeping in mind that SL55 is slightly slower than E55 in the drag race, but faster on track. If its a drag race, it could go either way depending on the driver and SL55's traction...

I can only agree. Although I never drove the SL55, I could imagine the SL even being faster from 0-60. Not because of the performance both cars actually have - simply due to the fact that the SMG makes it a bit harder to hit the right spot to get the best acceleration possible. So it really depends on the driver..

In other words: The M5 demands something in return to deliver its best performance - the SL is already programmed to deliver its best...

SL55 is faster than an E55

If I'm not mistaken isn't the SL55 faster 0-60 than the E55 by 4.3 vs/ 4.6?

I used to have an E60 M5 and have driven numerous 55K's.... I would say the 55's are quicker in almost all situations.

Here's what I know

I used to own an 05 E55, and I sold it to one of my business partners.

One guy that works for me has an 06 M5.

A few months ago we took them out, and I was manning the camera.

From a dead stop, there was no comparison, the E55 SMOKED the M5, no contest at all.

From a 50mph roll to about 120 they were neck and neck.

Fun day playing hookie from the office for sure. I have tried to find the time to put the vids on You Tube but haven't yet.

Dear troll,
The M5 has never been beaten on any board and never will be. "Twisties."
The M5 has never been beaten on any straight away and never will be. "Twisties."
The M5 has never been beaten on any "twisties" and never will be. "Twisties."
The M5 rules supreme until BMW replaces it with a better M5. "Twisties."

Oh, sorry guys, I must have been channeling Gustav or one of his demons.

No, the E55 is generally conceded to be a bit faster in a straight line. There are many posts on this...
