Questions re: lowering and rim size

I'm looking into getting some rims for the new E63, but I have some questions. Thanks in advance:

1) 20"s or 19"s? I'm a little worried about ride quality. One of the reasons I got rid of the SLK was the super rough ride and cabin noise. Will the 20"s significantly decrease the right quality?

2) I can get the car lowered 1" for about $500. Decent deal? Also, will this cause me any warranty issues?

3) Any suggestions for quality tires? A dealer suggested Michelins for the 20"s I was looking at, but they came in at about $1500 for 4 tires!! That just seems insane.

4) Looking at three brands for rims: DPE, Modulare and Vellano. Quality brands? Overpriced? I'm very price sensitive but I want quality.

You name it i've had it or got it...
20s are a bit rougher than 19s....but i find the e55 to be too soft in the 1st place. so i would go 20's.

you are dealing with an expensive car...i understand looking for a deal but don't cut corners. adam from euro eiltes has the rennetch elm for $900 which is an insane deal and allows you to get adjustability in choosing your ride height. i would go that route.

as far as tires there are plenty of great choices out there. you just need to read specs or reviews from other people. then decide on what you want...all out performance....ride noise...etc.. rims there are an abundance of high quality manufacturers out there.

dpe, hre, vellano, 360 forged.... it will just come down to what look you like. again decide what you want then narrow it down...do you want a split 5 or a solid 5 or mesh etc...

I would go 20". I had 19" on my CLK55 lowered with full Brabus and the ride in the E63 with 20" are the same if not better even with the Renntech ELM due to the air ride.

I would also highly suggest the Renntech ELM over links or remounting the sensors due to the adjustability.

Prior to ordering them I did not know much about ModSports, but I must say the quality is great and their support excellent. I received too aggressive an offset for my front wheels so they simply sent out new hoops to swap out at no additional charge to me. I'm happy

..
Another vote for 20" wheels and spend the extra cash on the Renntech ELM. I hear some people complain about harshness of 20" wheels but I disagree. The air ride feels "cushy" and eliminates a lot of that harshness you'd feel with a standard spring/shock suspension. I thought the stock C55 suspension with stock wheels was harsher than the two E55's I've been in with 20" wheels.

20" wheels. You'll regret getting the 19"s and end up spending more to get 20"s in the future. Happened to me with my previous ride.

I agree with everyone else that said Renntech ELM, I have it too, is the way to go. If you really want to save a lot of money use washers. So a search.

The tire sizes you choose will limit which tire you can use.

Of the three, I'd go with Vellano.

20's!!! I went back and fourth on the 19's vs. 20's issue and was scared of 20's because of the ride quality. Finally decided that the 20's because they looked so much better on a W211 than 19's do...and I'm pleasantly surprised on the quality of the ride. It's not as bad as people said it would be.

Depends how important ride quality is to you. It will affect 'crash through' over bumps and join strips but smooth hwy driving will be the same.
My 19"s are worse than the standard 18". I can't believe 20"s aren't worse again - but i never tried. What suspension setting do you use? Ask the guys with 20"s what setting they use.
Remember, to protect the rims you will need around 40psi in the tyres - that stiffens it up a bit.

You guys have no idea about tyre prices - the set of Michelins would cost around $5000 in Oz.

I was wavering like a politician deciding between 19's and 20's after i got my car last month. 20's look all so good on the car with a Rentech E.L.M. to drop it. i chose Radenergies r10 with Bridgestone RE050a's.

That is the hottest setup on the E63s right now. Diamond finish? That is such a gorgeous setup!!

Nice choice, but be careful of those wheels.Check the bolts for coming lose. Also if you lower the car you'll need to roll the fenders alot of have the wheels shaved down for a better offset.
