Evo cooling kit water reservoir leak?
I have recently purchased an Evo cooling kit and ran into a little hic up.
Attached is the picture of the water reservoir. With Rovens mighty finger (Super tech ),he points at the hole where the water comes out , when the engine is in operating temperature.the fluid level is not to high or overfilled.....
Any ideas if this is normal.... as i do not want to be driving with no water in my coolant

How full do you have it? When I first got mine, I made the mistake of filling it up and she leaked a little. Forgot the exact filling mark, but it's like half full or something. To the top of the white plastic inside or something. Someone will chime in with exacts.

It's too full. Check the level cold then when it's hot. You'll see the difference immediately. The cold fill line is just a hair above the reservoir seam. If it's too full the coolant will come out of the vent hole....add that to rapid acceleration/deceleration and it will leak. Remove some fluid and you'll be good to go.

no the level is not too high.this ventilation hole is open, and when the engine comes in operation temperature, the system pressure will press the water out.i tried it with a nearly empty can and the same happens....

The system shoud be seperated. There will be no pressure in the IC system if it is seperated, thats the reason for the secondary reservoir supplied with the kit.
Plus you should have just distilled water in the ic system,no coolant.Unless it gets very cold where you are.

Do not fill the reservoir past the white plastic piece on the inside (approx 50% of the total volume of the reservoir)..
If you are only 50% full and still blowing fluid out, you most likely have an air bubble and will need to "burp" the system.

Is this kit ment to be seperated or not?
and as rouven has stated he had it near enough empty and it still came out, will see if it could be air bubbles.

That is the main reason why you have the extra resevoir.Too fill the system after its been seperated. One you seperate the two systems, make sure you burp the ic system properly and run just distilled water in it.

If possible could some one mention how it is done so we can double check. As it is not mentioned how it is done in the evo manual.
also when the system is separated do you use two pumps or one?
thanks all for the responses

thanks for the help guys! but this parts to block the stock conection hose was not included in the kit.i took a 6cm long hose and blocked it inside with a plastic bolt.additionaly i fixed this bolt with a hoseclamp.then i connect the hose to the two conectors from the cooling circuit.tomorrow i will do a roadtest and check the fluid levels.i'm sure the problem is solved now.thx again

Just read the post that your system is not separated. Bingo, that is it 100%.
If you need me to contact EVO and try to get another cap for you, just pm me. EVO is usually pretty cool.
Was wondering why your engine pics looked like you ran through the mud bogs with the hood open. Now I know why. Coolant must have been spraying all over the place.
Glad your figured it out Zod. Now separate that sucker!!!

Khalid- yes the system must be separated. Thats the whole point of having the external reservoir bottle. But I need to clarify that the instructions absolutely indicate this so not sure if it was just overlooked during install? Further, every kit gets TRIPLE checked before it leaves so I can 100% confirm that all parts left our warehouse in the shipment. I can resend instructions when I get to the office. My techs are available should you need further assistance but it sounds like you may have it under control.

hi simon! i read the complete instructions a few times, and i havent found something about this.the instructions and the fitment of the parts is good.i just have to modify the bracket for the heatexchanger a little bit.
there was 2 hoseclamps over were i dont know to mount it,now i know...
there was no such a cover like on jrockets picture, are this the missing parts?

Ok, I just spent a few minutes reviewing the instructions. I'm not sure how much clearer it can be. Steps #12 and #29 have both text and pictures showing and commenting on separating the two systems. Further, we include an inventory list and a picture of ALL the parts included with the kit. The first page states in BIG red letters: DO NOT START UNTIL YOU VERIFY YOU HAVE ALL THE FOLLOWING PARTS
In any case, if you still have questions or issues please email me. Thanks.

Coolant is a less efficient heat conductor than pure water.
You live in a very cold place so you might need some coolant to prevent freezing. In Oz (at least in Brisbane) its never that cold.

OK after looking at the installation guild everything is there in detail!
Men will never learn I tell you (read all instructions). We got side tracked when the HE brackets holes needed to be adjusted for optimal figment.
Would like to apploigies on this mater, as Evosport did a really nice job in detailing the instructions and giving lots of pics and even cross checking the items needed.
Now i need to do some runs and when possible get a data logger !
Quick 2 questions though to double check:
First:
For hot climates (never snows or goes below 6-7c) I should fill the HE with distilled water and the reservoir with the water wetter supplied.
the reservoir should be half full (what happens if it is over?)
Second:
The additional HE should not be touching the main HE yes? (i.e needs to be space between them (small)
