SL65 or 996 Turbo
So I have the need for more speed. Trying to decide whether to get an SL65 or a 996 Turbo. Obviously I would be highly modding either car that I get. I believe the SL65 can be upgraded by Renntech and I might experiment with the turbos.
The 996 Turbo would probably be upgraded by EVOMS or Protomotive with either a 700 or 750 package (at a minimum). Comfort is somewhat important to me and this would be a daily driver.

Protomotive makes some real beasts! I would save the money and get the 996tt and then put that money towards mods. You can probably get an already built protomotive or evoms car for less than a sl65!
You can thank me later:

if comfort is at all important, then you know the answer. nobody is really pushing the 65 and i'd sure like to see what one could do beyond renntech. but if you do go with the 996 and send it to evoms be sure to tell mike that i get to test drive it before he ships it back to you.

I would have gone for the SL but like I told you kids may be on the way...lol!! Need those back seats. I'd do the SL in a heartbeat.

I have noticed that the fastest trap speed on a SL65 is in the high 120s and the modded Pcars are runnning mid to high 130s. Some even 140s.. I think I might have to upgrade the turbos on the SL which brings up a whole new set of issues. Does it make sense to be a pioneer or just get a P-car which has been tried and tested numerous times.

hmmmm.. very hard choice.. but i mean.. even though the modded 996tt would dust the sl65.. but a sl65 modded wouldnt be slow and would walk most of other cars besides that.. cant be the king of the streets, go with the sl65, more rare to see on the road.. but if i was to choose between the two, i would go with the 996tt only because of the manual, my cars from now on would never be automatic cause of how much i hate my car now for being auto

'07 Porsche 997TT
Sleeper, as you know I went the AMG route to 911. Big thing with me is neither is my daily driver, so I could give up the more comfortable ride with the 911.
As far as the "fun factor" there is no comparison. Even my 997S was a LOT more fun to drive than my modded E55.
as someone has said the 996TT's have been around for a while and tried and tested. They are animals. The interior is pretty crappy though and since it's your DD you may want to think about that.
The 997 interiors are light years ahead of the 996. Check a few options boxes (as I did) and the interior is as luxo as anything on the planet - of course you'll pay for that privelage.
Personally I think you should give the TT a try. most of the depreciation has aleady hit and if you don't like it, you can get rid of it.

I have a SL65 and I love it. I also have a GT2 and it hauls ***. Either car would be awesome but I like driving the SL a little more for comfort and I drive the GT2 when i want something a little more extreme.

Hmm, maybe I should get a 997? I hear that they are actually very easy to tune and they might be able to easily put down more power than a 996.

i wasn't sure if you were into "imports" but i'd take an r34 over a pcar any day. imho, they're MUCH better looking than the new r35 version. i have a buddy that's leaving his mildly tuned 600hp r34 vspec with me this weekend and i have a feeling i'll be looking to import an mspec by monday!!!
