Eh... E-Class drivers help

Now I realize I'm in the wrong forum but the SL guys are lazy, no pun intended. You guys rule when it comes to modding and anyways, I was looking for some info into what you guys think is the best ECU/TCU.

I got a quote for $3600 for about 80 ponies. Anyone done anything similar to their vehicles for cheaper/more power? The company for mine is like, Euroteck or something like that. RennTech says $6500 gets me 120 ponies, pulley included.

Just trying to sort through everything. It's the main reason my E55 remained stock; I wasn't quite sure where to turn, a bit overwhelming really. There is so much available I have hard time trusting the numbers from everyone. Anyone have some good insight from personal expeirence?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think RennTech has pullies for the 600 engine

RennTech is pretty good and provides conservative (and consistent) numbers.

Also, you may want to consider EvoTech. They are also high quality but cheaper than RennTech. Adam provides the best customer service you'll ever get

I'm not sure wether or not they do, but that's just what my guy told me. He says it comes with the ECU and is one of the most aggressive (and pricey) ECUs out there. It may just be branded "RennTECH".

You just need to get your ECU programmed. Talk to Adam at EuroElites about Evotech ecu tune for your 600. Big gains on those twin turbo from what I hear.

Also, you might want to PM a member by the name of Treynor. He has a 600 ...not sure which model...but I believe he has a RennTech modded 600. He might have some personal insight on what you are trying to do. I believe he has one of the fastest 600 on the track, if not THE fastest one.

Good luck!

Right now you need 3 things for your car, airfilters (FYI 10rwhp), ECU reprogram and a TCU reprogram. No one has more biturbo ECU/TCU out there then RennTech, they have a solid product but i would NEVER do business with them personally for a bevy of reasons. A comparable product would be the ECU/TCU from EvoTech.

Thanks everyone for the help!

E55Jay, question: I've heard that the airfilters in actuality only improve hp--rw or otherwise-- if combined with the ECU, otherwise it's a waste of money; any truth in that? From what I can recall the engine already gets more then enough air with the current computer set-up. That's what I heard anyways...

AMGfan, I searched for the member you mentioned and he drives a SL65. Did I find the right person?

Just to sum things up, RennTECH is the way to go? Or Evotech? I'm so lost, what is essentially the difference between the two? Or the difference between any tuners chip compared to each other? Aren't they all doing the same thing; boosting the PSI?

Thanks again guys!
