Not in SD county, but they are the Quiafe USA:

If all you want is MBTech level work, HG Motorsports (of Heinz Getz Benz in La Jolla) . I'll introduce you to D. Getz

Our friend is gone. You willing to drive to Costa Mesa?

Anyone you think can do the work would be fine. I trust your opinion. I just want to get it done before something breaks. Thanks Jangy. You guys at the shop Sunday?

I had mine installed at Evosport, and they did an excellent job. After I got it back, I abused the car for 3 straight months (street racing, track events, etc....), and differential never broke down and never complained; in fact, I think it was always hungry for more.......

Quaife is really a great product, good choice

If you don't mind the drive to Costa Mesa, VRP is the place to go. Vadim knows his MBs. I'll be heading up there maybe Tuesday, if you wanna train.

I don't think so on this one. I can't find really goods specs and the shim options are numerous. When it does get installed I'll see if the installer has any issues with me taking a bunch of pics to post. If that's a problem or they give me attitude then maybe this will be a good cold weather DIY.

There is a DIY for it somewhere around. I think the guy took the pumpkin to a diff shop and had them do the shimming and replaced all the bearings-

That would be great info to have. My searching hasn't been very fruitful.

Brian
let me know who does your install, maybe I'll take my rear out, box it up and ship it to him so he can install Quaife and set the clearences then I'll throw it back in, Hey Vadium is this something you would consider doing, I could have the pumpkin out and shipped to you with a new Quaife, you set it up and ship it back to me, kinda like Cory at Kleeman does, I think a few of us would be interested in something like this, Vadium if this is something you would consider I could have my rear out and boxed up with a new Quaife and on the way to you very quickly, let me know

I haven't decided 100% yet. I went by the shop today to "interview" the tech and get a feel for their capabilities so we'll see.

Boxing up the pumpkin and sending it with the quaife is a perfect way to do it. that is the beauty of the quaife. I have bugged the crap out of everyone at VRP, just to see hwat they can do and trust me an LSD is not an issue. I love finally having a shop where my car is treated right and its not even anything special. Their current Tech is a cool cat and very comfortable with cars.
I'll be looking to Quaife it pretty soon and I will definitely get it through and installed by VRP.

Jangy, can you look into this for your AMG brothers? this is the best option I've heard of so far, I trust your judgement and also want mine installed by VRP I have been sitting on a new unit for months because of install concerns, I'm on the east coast and would happily ship the rear housing out to Cali to have it dialed in right, is a GB on installs' even possible, if so I'm in, can you find out what kind of money VRP would want for this, I bought a new Quaife for a 55 from a member here and it's been collecting dust for months,

I will speak to VRP and see if what I am talking about is potentially true and what their schedule is like. Group Buy wise, I don't know what kind of profit is really in that, since the cat doing much of the work is pretty skilled. But, I don't know that they wouldn't be willing to hook us up out of pure customer service especially if we stagger the installs so that it doesn't screw up their work (I know Vadim is slammed). Worst case, I am sure I can dig around and find out who some good ones are and I'll be sure to look for East coast ones as well.
