I like the Gt-r.

inside and out..

I come from Honda/Acura products.. therefore, I have soft spot for great japanese engines.

Give credit to Nissan for
1)developing a machine to compete with the big boys. That's an acheivement itself.

2) bringing it to the US and attemp to market under Nissan brand. If this was an Infiniti brand.. it would cost $90k MSRP.

I wonder what Toyota and Acura are going to do to compete?
V10 Supra? or 5L V8 (IS-F)Supra?

Acura NSX V10 has been confirmed.. but can it compete?

You're missing the point. The question is whether the real production cars will actually have more than 475hp (has to be over 550hp to achieve these numbers) or whether the cars tested in the nurburgring and driven by the press are tuned versions and not the same ones that consumers will be getting.

i got the point but it doesn't add up. you're trying to claim nissan is unethical because of something a totally different manufacturer did when in fact it's MUCH more likely that nissan underrated the r35's actual hp...just like they've ALWAYS done with the gt-r's. iirc, the few dyno's of privately owned cars that are making their way around the web are showing right about the hp that you state is needed to achieve the posted numbers.

Toyota needs to come with something on boost. No N/A car will be 1/2 as fun as the Skyline. !!!!!3JZ-GTTE!!!!!

I still think it aint bad looking... !

But 997TT is still more desirable...even if you take the price differential out of it.

I have .02 cents.

There is no denying the performance. With or without the press car being a "ringer", the car has *****.

As far as the first on the block guys, yea they are going to pay a hefty markup but after a few months it will mellow out and anyone will be able to pick one up at MSRP or less.
They will build enough for sure.

Here's what it's all about. When I'm in my Merc on the freeway I feel better about myself than if I'm driving my Saleen Mustang or my Escalade for that matter. It doesn't matter if you drive a C230 or an E63 driving a Merc just feels good.

I'm sorry. I saw the new GTR/Skyline at the Los Angeles Auto show last month ( I really wanted to see that and the new Audi R8 ) and while it's a pretty car ( was happy they kept the Skyline tail lamps ) the car did not exctie me at all. At 20 ft. it looks just like a G37 or a 350Z with a body kit and big grey wheels. Say what you may but no one on the highway is going to give it a second glance. The sillouette is just way too close to the G37 and the Z for anyone to care. Ok, so some guy hands you your *** while driving one. OK. great. I'm a Chevy guy and the ZO6 gets a little lost on the freeway here in Los Angeles but it still has "presence".

The GTR does not. I bet 99% of people out there if asked, "what's that"?would believe you if you told them your new GTR is a G37 with a body kit and big wheels.

ok, maybe that was .03 cents but nonetheless, just one guys opinion.

I don't understand why everybody automaticly accuses Nissan of a "ringer". The R34 were rated at "276", but we all know they were between 335 and 340. Obviously, this is a similar case. Benz does this, and nobody seems to complain. I think manufacturers should do it more often.

Sure it's been posted already somewhere, but spent waaayyyy too much time at a doctor's office yesterday so I read the heck out of the car mags. Noticed that the GTR beat the SLR on the "The Ring". Was pretty impressed with that little number.

Interesting, I seem to remember the SLR running -.01 sec behind a CGT at the Ring.

Looks like this GTR is in super-car territory.

I agree with you on some of the things you said. I came from a 500WHP evo 8 that was pretty much fully built and it was an incredible car. AWD is what makes the skyline quick. the handling is incredible too. I saw the car in person and it does look good, but at the end of the day it is still a nissan. the GTR will be an awesome car to the teen kid, JDM die-hards, and the boy racer crew. in the real world the mature crowd will not dig it at all because they tend to look for a combination of luxury and performace and buying a merc or a bmw provides a sense of accomplishment. I also don't see too many 3 sec 0-60 launches coming out of that car unless you want to kill the transfer case, destroy the clutch, or smash the tranny. turbo kits will be too expensive for the type of people who buy those cars (10K). you are dead on for the styling. It looks like a G37. when I switched to a benz a lot of things changed for me and now I see it's not about being the fastest person out there. there is always someone out there that is much faster than you are. the W211 will be a classic someday because the blend of luxury and performance provides the best of both worlds. I get guys trying to race me all the time in scooby doo's, evo's ( and I use to own one), and hopped-up G35's. it's amazing how a badge on a car makes people feel that they need to challenge you. I can wait to see the new GTR on the street because the drives that buy them will feel they need to challenge every performace car on the street and it proves nothing.

the dealers will kill off the car with the additional STUPID TAX they'll put on the car. the real funny thing is if you put the average person in front of a new 911 turbo and a new GTR and gave them a choice to have eith car for free the 911 will be the top choice. 5 years from now the 911 will still be worth way more that a nissan unless nissan only builds the car for one year and makes only 500 of them. GREED will not let that happen.

it doesn't change the fact that they still splitting the power to front wheel. they put less power on front wheel when no slip, this will minimize the disadvantage, but is still there unless they completely shuts it and put 100% power to rear wheel.

One dealer started refuding deposits since it will be a supply and demand bidding environment and they want to sell to the highest bidder.

I was told (all speculation) to expect 1500 units in 2008 and 2500 in 2009.

Has anyone tried to get on a list for this car?

The funny thing is all the little kids on the block will love you in that car, but try to go to lunch with prospective business clients in a GTR. I can see it now, you pull up and park and the turbo timer keeps the engine running. then you get asked "hey why is your car still running".

also, you know you'll see one driving around town with a bunch of stickers on it like nascar, but with no sponsership. the GTR will be a great toy, but never a gentlemens ride.

I just read (somewhere) that Nissan was telling the dealers to limit the amount of price screwing of people on this car. The local dealership here is not taking deposits for the car saying that it creates too many hassles later. Also, they will not presell the car. They advised to give your name to your salesman and then the first person to come in and lay down the money gets a car. Probably be easier to get one of these vs. the ZR1.
