I would not at all be shocked if these initial test cars are also tuned a bit on the aggresive side to generate all this free publicity.

It's definitely putting down a lot more than 470 hp. No way a 3800 lb car puts down these kind of numbers unless its running north of 500 hp. I'll guess once owners dyno these cars, they're running over 500 hp crank.
These basic V6 engines (think previous Nissan Skyline, or even Toyota Supras) have been tuned to produce over 800 hp. Rumor is that Nissan is taking some extraordinary steps to try and prevent aftermarket tuners from modifying the ECU.

E55 AMG
Although this car is insanely fast...its just as ugly!!!! Also, one of the main reason the Skyline never made it to the US was the reason that no one really wanted to 90K for a nissan!!!! Peeps rolling with that kind of dough would rather spend another 25K or so on a GT3...see who takes home the chic from the bar then!!!! (faster than the nissan goes 0-60) lol They had a better shot releasing it as an Infinity to justify price tag...but what do I know, Im into Germans!!!

The review states that without launch control it gets a 0-60 time of 4.0 and that sounds right. The M6 is 3800lbs as well but with way less torque and no AWD, it gets around 4.4sec.
It's LC is the ****...
500crank hp does seem more fitting though, we'll see.

Also regarding the Ecu ... my understanding is as someone else posted. They are tracking that someone very carefully and if you tweek the ECU you lose warranty.

That sucks! You would think they would sell a lot more of them if people were able to tweak them and get big power. I guess the warranty thing makes sense though. They probably don't want to pay to fix a bunch of cars that have been worked over beyond their limits. It would be cool to see a super strong bottom end like the poopras had.

Yes but for me this is a radical departure from previous Skylines. They have now gone to a V6 instead of an Inline 6.

I think there will always be the few people who find it ugly. A lot of people think a lot of Benz's are ugly too. Its just a taste thing I guess. A lot of people think ugly girls look good too...

More unethical practices by Nissan. I would bet $10,000 that that car is tuned (i.e. more boost). 475hp, 4000lbs and 0-60 in 3.3 seconds w/ 11.6 1/4 mile time? Sure... I guess the laws of physics don't apply to Nissan

mb did nearly the same thing but i don't see anyone around here complaining about the extra hp.

These cars are underrated, no different than the "276 hp" R34s. Here is a dyno, they're really somewhere around 540hp at the crank. Link:http://www.nagtroc.com/forums/R35-Dyno-t20782.html
When you take that into account and also consider AWD and launch control mid 11s seems about right. Im not going to speculate on whether or not Edmunds had a ringer, but even if they did I don't think the mass production models will be much slower.
Ive been watching this car for awhile, its getting more an more appealing. Im going to wait and see what tuned versions Nismo comes up with before making a decision. Regardless, its a great car and a great time to be a gearhead.

I think what Chiromikey is saying is that MB advertises the E55 as having 469 hp, but we all know it has more.
It is very possible that the GT-R is rated lower than its actual output. We'll find out soon.
BTW - I actually saw a Skyline on the road this weekend with what looked like Georgia plates. Couldn't tell if it was the prior generation or two generations ago. And I was so shocked to see it drive past me that I didn't catch whether it was LHD or RHD.
