OK, so I went and picked it up. Again, I just can't say enough how happy I am with my experience with EVERYONE at VRP. Each trip up is just so much fun for me. Vadim is just PICKY!! He wouldn't let me leave without doing some datalogging to make sure it was ok!! As always, the car is in great hands and company. The empty shelled SL is there (LOL!!), as are MANY more AMGs. I even saw that GORGEOUS "Rocket"ship.
Now for the butt dyno update. Keep in mind that we are waiting for the Airbox to be modified (or add an adapter), so I am back to OEM box tops. Also, the tune has not been redone. All they did was drop in the TB and datalog. I will be returning next week for the fine tune.
As everyone knows, I have wanted a TB upgrade for quite some time. But, I wasn't sure if it would really act as I predicted. I guess we'll see when Vadim dynos it. My butt actually feels much less "harshness". I "think" the boost has dropped, because the sounds and jerks are NOT as fierce. The car has actually "calmed" down. It is a really wierd feeling. The thing is, you do a blast and the next thing you know here comes 120. Before, it really started to die off about 120 - 140 and just be steady. Now, it PULLS to 150 anyway. Oddly enough, it now barks going into second.
Any 1/8th mile draggers this Friday? We need to calibrate this VRP tune. That is where the true beauty will show itself. I said it from the start. This is a true tune and that is why I am so happy with it. It is refined. The goal isn't just "peak" HP, but true useable power and I love that.
In the end, I've paid ( does this ever end?), but I've gotten exactly what I want. A rejuvinated 55k and a tuner for my future toys, too.

What is your car getting while its there?
Jangy,
If you didnt do the "sneaky ECU reset" or clear the adaptive values with STAR, then you need 150-200miles to see what the TB does..
I always clear my value with STAR whenever I make changes so I notice the changes right away.

Victor, that is exactly what it is. I was already pretty stoked with the RAW power that was added before, but now it feels more like a jet.
I am constantly catching myself having to hit the brakes because it coasts at speed so much better. To be honest, i am just enjoying the car for now. Vadim has not "released" the upgrade to me yet, so it may change. I'll be back in next week to put the airbox back on. Then, I get the VRP re-fine-tune.
Just as an FYI for those that got the VRP airbox back in the day. VRP will modify the box to fit the 80mmTB when you do upgrade.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I don't know what magic you guys did with the ECU reflash but my car feels like an animal now. It pulls so hard all over the place, yet so smooth. I've really been enjoying the heck out of it. I don't even have the new air filters in yet.

HAHA!!!! I told you guys!! This is something special. i don't get worked up over things like this too often, much less dive in and start buying stuff; but this is a different opportunity. Vadim has paid his dues and Victor has always been an enthusiast first.
