When it hooks, it flies pretty good.
1. E55 = Daddy's/family car
2. 335i Coupe = youthful & athletic.
3. You pay for warranty and maintenance on the E
4. Warranty and maintenance are free on the 335i
5. The 335i can be modded in hours, to perform at near E55 levels. All
reversible mods.
Believe me you will have plenty of time in your life for a four door Mercedes, enjoy your youth, Heck I was 34 when I bought my first 4 door Benz.(for my wife
)However, it's not fast. I murdered on entering the 2 freeway heading to Pasadena after he cut me up at the lights. Passed the little punk like he was standing still. I wouldn't be able to do that to an E55k, IC pump failures excepted.
Whats your opinion? Oh, and I'm 19 and it would be my daily driver.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
That's a ridiculous statement, comparing a high mileage used car to a new car. I can't think of too many kids that would want a seriously used E55, over a new 335.
Another way to look at things is you can get a brand new 335 with Dinan stage 3 tune that should be running close to 500 hp for less than a relatively new E55. You'd have a new car that outruns a stock E55 on the straights, with damn good handling.
If I was 19, I'd definitely go for the 335, for the handling, modding potential, image, and cost.
but 335 aint ///M
For my money a low mileage Audi RS4. A kick *** drivers car that will out perform both the others (stock) on a track and you will also loose the rick kid tag. It’s a sad fact but as you have already seen here people for some reason enjoy putting the other man down.
Also what’s this crap about which car pulls more chicks. If you’re any good you'll pull chicks riding a skateboard! Good luck with your choice buddy.

P.S. If you want to talk modding potential, than please show me a 335i that can run 10's and trap 130mph+ in the 1/4 mile? Thought so....

You clearly have a tendency for exaggeration. If you can buy a barely used E55 that lists for $90,000 for $45,000, that doesn't say much for the value of an E55 does it? Show me a listing for an E55 with 10,000 miles for $45,000 and I'll give you some credibility.
If you know anything about the car, you'll realize that the 335 is one of the best potentials that's come along in a long time. As for modding potential, I'll bet you'll see a 'mutant' 335's that can trap in the 10's just like you saw the extreme E55's a few years after they were introduced. But the 335's can handle as well - a big advantage.

As a potential used car buyer, I could care less about the massive depreciation of AMG's. I'm actually happy that I can buy cars like SL65 with an MSRP of $200,000 for $100,000 now. You want a listing? OK, here you go... an E55 with 15,000 miles for $48k:

As far as 335i's running 10's or low 11's, it will not happen. If you look at current 1/4 mile times for 335i's, there is one 11.9 pass recorded on dragtimes and that car is pretty much loaded with all the upgrades available (custom tune @ 14psi, custom turboback exhaust, LSD, drag radials, etc) and running on race gas and its still barely breaking the 12 second barrier. There are bone stock E55's on stock tires that ran faster than these highly tuned 335i's on drag radials.
Why would anyone want to modifying a 335i, lose the warranty, and have engine problems in the future just so that you can be on the same level as a stock E55 that you can buy with the same cash, fully certified? Actually you won't ever be on the same level because you're driving a non-M 3-series, which is a car of a totally different class than E55. If you want to be on the same level with the BMW, your only options are M5 and M6.
P.S. These tuned 335i's are overrated beyond belief. There are plenty here in Miami (active autowerke) and I used to crush them every time (bus lengths @ 30mph roll) when my SLK55 was still stock. They think just because some of them manage to run low 12's on race gas and drag radials they are the ****

>>>"thats a load of crap"<<< Thank you, that was well put, I appreciate your respectful reply.
>>>"I dont think i'll ever drive a 2 door"<<<
Why drive a sports car when you are young, when you can drive a 4 door family car.
