Bad service experience with my E63

Brought my car in to W.I. Simonson of Santa Monica with the following: -----*Squeaky brakes.
*Auto trunk opener doesn't work and often tries to decapetate me when unloading stuff out (I am jewish and it is a German car, but still....)
*Suspension makes strange knocking noise and seems to be stuck in elevated mode-Car has a strange Audi Allroad-like look.
*Steering wheel isn't centered properly.
*Did I mention the brakes squeak at EVERY stop? I am getting attention for the wrong reasons.

So, dropped car off in the AM, showed up at 6:00PM and------NOTHING was done, the car wasn't even looked at.

Has anyone else had a similar experience at Simonson? Is BH Mercedes better?
By the way, the car is only 6 months old with 4K miles.

The guys at Simonson are good. Did you have an appointment or did you just take it in unannounced ?? Did they promise it would be done at 6pm ?? Ask for Mike Hawker - hes the shop foreman and is very, very helpful.

Brought my car in a roughly 6,000 miles for the brake squeel TSB, just hit 9,500 and have not heard a sound since. So keep the faith there is a fix. Ask the service manager to look on-line for the update.

Can you elaborate on the brake squeel TSB, please ? Exactly what is done in the TSB to stop the squeel ??

They replaced the rear rotors and both the front and rear brake pads. The new pads look different than what was previously on the car. The new ones look almost like they are rubber (I know sounds crazy) but whatever they did the car is completely squeel free. Will try to find the TSB #'s and my invoice.

Is there really a TSB on the break squeal? If so what number is it? It may help me in my case.

I'm on my 3rd dealer. If not satiisfied with service, there is enought MB dealers in the LA area to go where you feel satisfied.

I just tried Beverly Hills Mercedes. So far they are the best. They are zero'd in on AMGs with knowledgable mechanics. Keep in mind, the AMG certified mechanics work on engine only related issues.

Yes the brake squeal is annoying me too, please let us know the TSB number, I'll be headed to either downtown MB or Rusnak... (anyone had any experience with Rusnak service ?)

by the way, the Jewish decapitating comment was pretty funny

Sorry it took so long to respond.

TSB PB 4210/76
TSB PB 4210/79

These might be some part numbers

1. 1 005-420-22-20 Brake Pad

2. 2 219-421-02-12-27 Brake Disc
3. 1 004-420-89-20 Brake Pad
4. 1 171-540-06-17 Sensor

These might be the service codes

422851 Brake Pads- Rear, R&R

422706 Brake Pads- Front, R&R

422731 Brake Discs, Front-Left & Right Side, R&R

I made a mistake in my previous post, the FRONT rotors were replaced.

Believe R&R means remove and replaced

I really hopes this helps. It is great to pull up to a valet and not have the car squeel. Good Luck!

I would definately stick to the service dept you got the car in this matter.

If it was not so serious I Love DTLA , 2x both great experiences. They get your car done but your car would be better served by the dealer with financial ties to the car. Copy the service bulletin's and get a rental paid for due to the warranty issue. The DTLA folks gave me a new Merc to drive.

Yes I just got back. Thanks for all the responses. I will take the TSB for the rear with me to Simonson. Hopefully it is not coming fro the front wheels.

Went to BH and was told to just step on the breaks real hard and also in reverse. "All AMG cars have squeeky brakes" said the service advisor. That is a very comforting response.

So are they refusing to change the brakes?

Don't accept the ignorant service advisor's "high performance brakes make more noise and sometimes squeal" excuse, it is ludicrous. I have owned many high performance cars and none of them had squealing brakes, except my E63, which I just had fixed this week. It was coming from the rear, and they replaced the pads; now it is breaking without a peep. My serivice advisor had just done a CLS63 the day before. It's a known problem and they need to fix it. Period.
