PICS of Blacked out DPE Wheels and Painted Engine Cover
Here you go guys. Let me know what you think good or bad. The wheels do look much better in person. I really want to hear comments about the paint job I did.
Anyway, if you guys are local and want to see the wheels in person or even throw one on your car to see what it looks like let me know. Blacked out wheels are a gamble but i really like the way they turned out.

The wheels look good. Are they powdercoated flat black? I wonder what they would look like if the lips and the inside were painted black but the face remained silver?

Hmmm, I've never seen anyone paint those parts. I've seen plenty paint the AMG manifolds, but not the box. Whatever floats your boat. We will have to introduce you to the CF market. Maybe you'll like those?

I really appreciate the honesty!! The whole engine cover paint job cost me 6 bucks. I figure if I get sick of it I can always change it.

Have you seen any of the carbon fiber air boxes from Vrus or Renntech, that would really fit your cars "theme" better.Even though you dont really drive around with the hood open...lol....or do you?
One more thing,on your wheels and the finish.Be very careful with painted or coated wheels, specially black.Any little chip will show raw up easily and noticable. Some touch up paint or a black sharpie pen can do wonders in a pinch.

Do you mean a red lip or a red pinstripe? I was debating on a silver pinstripe but the guys at DPE told me that look is old.

How have you been Ling? I need your expertise in photography. My wife just got me a Nikon D40x SLR camera for Christmas. I wanted to get some better pics of my car but I am still learning all the tricks. I had the camera in fine mod, the close ups of the wheels are clear but the car pics are a bit watery looking.

Do what you want, its your money and car.
DPE needs more lip on their wheels, specialy the fronts. They have no lip syndrome like HRE does.

Who did your blackouts for your logo's? Been leaning towards doing that.

I know what you mean about the wheels. I just had the car handwashed yesterday and the detail guy squirt some stuff on my wheels. I had to rub it off pretty hard to get it back to the flat black look again.
I have seen the CF stuff from VRUS and Renntech, all of it is amazing!!! I spent a ton of money on CF for my M3 and Porsche in the past. With the E55 I want to take the extra $3K-$4K and spend it on engine mods instead of appearance pieces. I don't know, I may come around and spend it anyway.
