Cracked Wheel

My front right tire was losing a couple pounds of air every day for about a week so I pulled it off to inspect and found a crack in the rim. I'm not sure how that happened since the roads are pretty good and I haven't hit anything. Maybe just metal fatigue. Anyway, does anyone have spare stock wheel I can buy or want to unload? The part is 2114012602 (8x18 ET30). Thx.

that's not normal on a stock wheel. Especially without a bend. I would take it to your dealer. Are you still under warranty?

I've never seen such a clean crack on these rims before. The top still looks fine. I'd take it in for warranty as well. If the tire doesn't show any signs of a hit, I don't see an issue.

Take it to the dealer and try to get a replacement under warranty. Normally these rims will bend before cracking when you hit pot holes and such, but this crack seems like a defect.

No warranty left on my ride. New retail is $890 I believe but discounted to $670 via online ordering. I was waiting until spring to jump to forged 19's but wanted to get through the winter first.

Might as well switch now instead of paying an extra $700 now, and then switching later anyways.

That is scary Brian!! glad you caught it now in winter and not when you were doing high speed driving on the freeway..

I dont have any spare wheels, but, just in case I thought I would mention this to you...

These fell into my lap.. its an awesome deal on a brand new set of wheels if this is something you like...

Vic - thanks for the heads up. Those wheels look great but for a little more $$ I'm thinking about set of Forgeline's. PM me if pricing changes. I might be able to be persuaded. At least I noticed my leak in the garage so now that the car is on injured reserve I decided to tackle my Quaife install as DIY. Very straightforward so far....

You can get the rears for $500 and the fronts for $550. I'd also just put the $ into a set of aftermarket ones, if you don't need an OEM setup.

No worries.. I suspect they will go pretty quick considering they are $10K replacement value up here.. I was thinking of getting them and just making set #4 of wheels for my car.. lol..

If you would like to look into getting it repaired, try: trudesignwheel.net

Jim Lyons does amazing custom wheel work and refinishing/repair. I am lucky to have him local but his business is very much national. He can tell you if that can be repaired safely and will not do it is it can't. My guess is it can and will not cost much. He will also be able to tell you why it cracked.

BTW, He is an ex pro-level racer so he really understands cars.

I can't find them on the Tire Rack site right now. If I put in 2006 E55 Sedan or Wagon, I only see these AMG 19" wheels:

You may have to call. It says it has front and rear fittments, but the click doesn't work.

FYI I called Tire Rack today and they don't offer OEM replacement wheels. They specifically don't have the OEM sizes so that MB retains the exclusive pleasure of bending us over for them.

My right rear wheel is bent and the guy who sold me the car is getting a replacement. It sounds like he's getting me a used or refurbished one though as he requires mine for a core charge (and I'll be without a wheel for a week ). I was just wondering if there was anywhere else to pick one up quickly without the wait and then just charge him for it instead ...

i cracked both rears on my C class. wheels were AMG III 211 5 spoke. Cracks looked identical to the one you have posted above. Luckily i was able to get new rears for 179 a piece at Tirerack. The fronts were going for 499 each. Same thing - was slowly losing air and then after a long weekend they were flat.

I have a cracked front rim..

looking for a used replacement or having the rim repaired.

I'm loosing 10lbs per day and thank God the small crappy 2 Gallon compressor is enough to get the job done.

Anybody in Socal with an extra front 211 E55 rim??... I can give you cash and I'll pick up.

My local run down tire shop wants $60 to repair.. but I'm not sure I would trust them to fix the problem.
