Ram Air Scoop possible for E55?
I understand what you mean, but when you actually look at the scoop, it is very small and in the top corner of the grill (with the hood closed). I wonder how much ram effect is actually occuring. I also wonder if a bigger scoop might possibly increase hp. It seems that the stock scoops on both sides of the intake can be detached. Any vendor or anyone for that matter tried to make a bigger scoop that simply replaces the current stock scoop?

Almost, but not quite. The problem with the OEM setup is twofold. First, they did not bother to seal things up for good flow and second, they left a bottleneck in the actual diameter of the hole that the tubes hook to. these holes also happen to be the radiator sides, but I am about to modify mine to bore them open.
I've done a ****load of research on this. First, if you go with a scoop, you will want to be in an area of high pressure with it or you get no air. The hood on the E happens to be fairly NEGATIVE. You would literally have to put a pretty big scoop and it would need to be at the very front or rear of the hood.
