New RennTech ELM Arrived (no solder)
Just got my new RennTech ELM that uses pin connections instead of soldering.
Also has the ability for a remote control as well.
Now the trick is to install it without the wife knowing. Gotta send her to the mall or something with the kids

not quite plug and play. It is in the sense that you unplug and replug the wires from the harness, but it's not a 5 minute swap

Remote?? where you get the new elm? did they say how much the remote was? I've been thinking about this upgrade and i thought changing the suspension settings was a pain, but now with a remote it's perfect. let us know thanks.

just got done installing it. Hardest part was getting the end caps off the connectors and working with the sun going down and being in the garage.
Seems to work pretty good. I wish the wires were a bit longer so that I could put the module in a nicer looking spot. Its in the mesh holder in the passenger footwell for now.
I was told the remote price was to be determined, so your guess is as good as mine. Hopefully not too much more.

Ok, let me swallow my pride and serve as the "dumb *** question guy:"
What is (what does it do) the RennTech ELM?
Or if your patience for "relatively new Animal trainers" is low, I can try to find the answer using that "internet web" thing Al Gore invented.

ELM: Electronic Lowering Module. Arguably the best electronic module on the market which allows up to 50mm drops. Charles has the newest module which is plug and play in the ECU vs. the older version which required splicing and soldering. The module is not model specific and is interchangeable with ABC and airmatic cars.

Did you take pics? I know this install should be pretty straightforward (compared to the previous version) but pics never hurt as a reference for future buyers.

Notice how Adam has not jumped in on this thread because he has 5 of the solder in units he has to sell. Admittedly at a great price.
Adam, I have to say, the ability to go back to stock that this setup provides is compelling. I also like the fact I do not have to mess iwth little dials.
But, technology is always moving forward.

sweet . I was actually going to try and coordinate with Vadim to have him troubleshoot my air box. Let me know when you're coming up, and we can meet up!

I do understand that technology is always advancing; but do remember if there's an error in the wiring of the harness, it will still set off a check engine light.
As you know, there are a lot of guys in here that loves to DIY, including yourself. That's the best way to eliminate the mistake of others. So if anything happens, you know how to trace back and fix it.
Either way, this new module is convenient, then again, we shall see regarding the remote.

You are off on 2 things.
First, Adam hasn't jumped in this post, because it is regarding a RennTech product that he has no interest in.
Second, doing the exact same install is easy on the existing unit. I have been looking for a place to make me some "kits", but I haven't wanted to pair it up to RennTech products.
Just for ****s and giggles, I'll let you all in on a little secret. The install can be IDENTICAL as it is. Ask Charles.
Instead of pulling the pins and popping them into the unit he got, you could use the "old" unit and pull the pins and do the same. The difference is that you would need to modify the ELM, NOT the car. The free wires at the end of the unit need to be prepped to be pins. DONE. Go to Frys and spend $15 on a setup. Add that to Adam's wholesale price on the "old" one and you'd be foolish to pay retail for the "new" one.
Go ahead and try. I wanna see how expensive they are on the streets.
Haha!! Charles is gonna be the only car in SoCal with the new unit!!!

The unit is basically the same (if i am not mistaken), only the harness is different. If that's the case, the owners of the older gen modules SHOULD be given the option to purchase the new harness. Or DIY
